I have the chance of a new job but it's shifts and I'd start sometimes at 6am would need to get up before 5am which I've never done and frankly don't fancy at all
I'm mid 50s
When do you get up when you're working?

5am- nursery run, shower, commute, Starbucks and breakfast before work at work.

booksandcaffeine · 01/03/2019 09:10

I do shift work. So for 6:30, I get up at 6 (I'm already at work as I do a sleep in).

For late shifts, usually about 9/9:30am.

BitchQueen90 · 01/03/2019 09:18

I get up at 6am. I don't start work until 9.30am but I do the school run first then a 40 minute walk to work.

YesQueen · 01/03/2019 10:00

5.45am for an early shift
7.10am for a late shift

BlackInk · 01/03/2019 10:43

Alarm at 6:30am and leave the house by 8am.

I eat breakfast when I get to work and only need half an hour to get showered and ready, but have two primary school aged children to wrangle... and more importantly I NEED to drink a cup of tea in bed before I do anything else!

DeadCertain · 01/03/2019 11:47

0300 for an 0400 start (or 0200 for 0300 occasionally). The job that I should hopefully be starting in a few months' time I will need to get up at around 0500 for I think which will be much better as I naturally wake up at about 0430 - 0500 if left to my own devices.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 01/03/2019 11:54

0530, leaving at 0630 and arriving at work at 0715. I could get probably get out a bit faster but I like a large hot cuppa before I go.

LoubyLou1234 · 01/03/2019 11:56

I do long days for the nhs, full time so 3/4 shifts a week. I'm up before 5:30, leave at 6:20 home about 8:30pm. I need to have a brew and wake up before I get ready. Cannot just jump n go. Sometimes I wake around 5 and just get up. I go to bed around 10-10:30. I can function on much less sleep.

I used to get up before 5 for an earlier shift. It wasn't much diffferent.

BlameItOnBianca · 01/03/2019 12:04

I wake up at 6.30am, wake up/stretch, chat with DH. Then do 15 mins HIIT, eat breakfast. Then shower, dress, get picked up at 8.15am for a 30 min commute to work, at desk by 8.50am, settle myself in, log on, begin at 9am.

I could get up later, but I hate rushing around in the morning.

boxlikeamarchhare · 01/03/2019 12:07

Alarm goes off at 5:30, coffee/read the news until 5:55, dog walk until 6:40, shower, breakfast with DD, leave for work at 8:00.

madvixen · 01/03/2019 12:08

4am here. On the train at 5:30 and at my desk for 7.

sugarbum · 01/03/2019 12:14

Couldn't do that. I get up at 6.45, which is still too early for me, but I have to get DS1 up and to the train station at 7.30. I then go straight to work from there (if I didn't have to do that I could leave at 8.30 and be there on time)

Camomila · 01/03/2019 12:27

6am for uni but not everyday.
I used to regularly get up at 5.40 for 7/7.30 starts at work and that was just too early.

Amibeingnaive · 01/03/2019 12:34

About 15 mins after I need to. Every day.

SpaceCadet4000 · 01/03/2019 12:39

5.30, starting work at 7.

It works really well for me, I used to wake up at 7 but naturally woke up at around 5.30 anyway so would spend that time tossing and turning. I find I now fall asleep faster too.

Pyjamaface · 01/03/2019 12:39

I start at 6am, wake up at 4:45 and get picked up around 5:30.

Only do 2 days a week so I have a big lay in every Sunday

SurgeHopper · 01/03/2019 12:42

Up at 6am. Becomes the norm tbh

kaytee87 · 01/03/2019 12:50

I get up around 7 usually as that's when my ds gets up (DH gets up at 6.30) but I don't start work until 10. On my non working days ds and I usually go out to an activity around 9.30 so have fairly relaxed mornings.

PlayingForKittens · 01/03/2019 12:57

5am, leave house at 5.30. Or 4.30pm to leave house around 5.30pm.

Mymatemarmitey · 01/03/2019 12:58

5.30am alarm, 1.5 hr commute, so at my desk by 7.30am

calilark · 01/03/2019 13:01

Aiming for 6.45, but tends to be 7. I leave at 8 for an 8.30 start. I need to get up earlier though (or at least stick to 6.45!) as I am often running late after sorting out DD and the dog

ScreamingValenta · 01/03/2019 13:02

6:30 am

happypotamus · 01/03/2019 13:13

I get up at 6am and leave the house at 6.25. This is possible because my DC usually aren't up that early, so I just get washed and dressed, feed the cats, have a drink and go. I eat my breakfast on the bus or when I get there. I usually get there just after 7 in time to get changed and sit down before the shift starts at 7.30.
Or I get up at 4pm and leave the house at 7.30pm for a night shift, but that's not what your question was asking.

DarcyDrive · 01/03/2019 13:22

I'm a glutton for punishment Grin I've just started a new job with 7am start time. I only have maybe a 7 minute drive to work but I set my alarm at 5.30am. I hate hate hate rushing around in the morning. I like to leave myself plenty of time to straighten my hair, put some makeup on, get dressed, have my breakfast, and generally piss about . Normally get to work around 6.50am and again, piss about for ten minutes .

Same in my old job when I started at 8am, I would set my alarm for 6.30am. I'm also a 8-hours-a-night person which means going to bed ridiculously early but I love sleep. Grin

Miljah · 01/03/2019 13:26

God, medieval monks have got nothing on you lot!!

4am?? Blimey. That would only be 'on-call' for me; I'd never consider a job where I had to get up before 6am.
