I loved my undercut but I looked ridiculous when I was growing it out

movingschoolagain · 25/02/2019 20:25

I had it done the first time at 51. Very heavy, thick hair. It's shape is so much better with it and the additional benefit is that my neck is much cooler.

DuchessOfPhysics · 25/02/2019 20:26

I just saw some lovely pictures of Rosamund Pike with an undercut and although she's about forty so younger than I am, she is not trying to be particularly edgy I don't think. It works on her.

@bishalisha, I may never grow it out!

I've washed my hair tonight and sectioned that back as if I had the undercut and plaited it wet . I've tried my hair and you. Nat see it and my hair is till massive but is sitting better ..
I think I'm going to do it 😬😬

I’m 42 and have had an undercut for about 8 years. I have very thick wavy hair and it’s just unmanageable without it. Like another pp said, I can now just plait my hair and it dries naturally and looks good. I don’t have any pictures of the back of my head though sorry.

PartyHatOnADog · 25/02/2019 20:32

I have one. I'm in my 30s. DO IT!

...what is TRIANGLE HEAD please?

gubbsywubbsy · 25/02/2019 20:35

@PartyHatOnADog it's when you have thick hair and it dries outwards creating a triangle of hair around your face

Never even considered it but I have ridiculously thick hair and wanted to do something with it....maybe this is the answer!!

thatwhichwecallarose · 25/02/2019 20:47

I’m the same as Ohhgreat. Never knew this existed but now I know it does it could the answer to my sweaty summer nightmare!!

gubbsywubbsy · 26/02/2019 12:54

Starting a undercut revolution 😂

My dsis has one, she'll be 60 this year (similar cut to the 4 frames of photo up thread). It's really cool, I hope I have her style when I'm as ancient as her.

Scarscar · 27/02/2019 08:06

I'm 40 and decided to do mine when saw a woman who looked a bit older than me with grey hair the coolest undercut. I don't think age is a factor.
I must admit I do my own though, couldn't be bothered to keep going to the salon to get it shaved. No more triangle head for me Grin

Helpmytrousershavesplit · 27/02/2019 08:08

Mine is just growing out and driving me mad!

gubbsywubbsy · 27/02/2019 09:59

@Scarscar ... are you happy with yours ? My dh did say he would do it but I want a nice line and as my hair is so thick I can't see that myself 😬

ItchySeveredFoot · 27/02/2019 13:12

I think I'm gonna go for it myself. My hair is very thick. Hairdressers go on and on about it. I think I'll get it done neatly at my hairdressers and then my dp can just keep it short for me.

Scarscar · 27/02/2019 13:26

Yep I love mine. I took a lot of care getting the lines straight. Mine was long enough on top to put in a tight ponytail while I did it.

gubbsywubbsy · 27/02/2019 15:39

Cool.. any pics when it's done would be good ..

In case anyone fancies doing what I've done to see if they will like it ..
When my hair was wet I sectioned the bit I want to undercut and plaited it whilst it was wet .. it's tucked against my head and I still have loads of hair but it's definitely sitting better .. 🤗

Uodate .... I'm doing it !! 😂😂🙈

Let us know it goes.....

U2HasTheEdge · 27/02/2019 22:15

I had one a couple a few weeks ago on the back of another thread here.

Absolute game changer! My hair was crazy thick, and unmanageable. Having it thinned out helped but it was still horrible.

I wish I had done it years ago. My hair is now just a normal nice thick and it takes hardly any time to style it. I still feel shocked when I look in the mirror at my hair.

You can only really see the undercut if I wear my hair up in a really high pony tail. I have mine done at the back and sides.

I need to get DH to give it a shave again.

gubbsywubbsy · 28/02/2019 07:40

Good to hear @U2HasTheEdge .. I'm going to start with an inch or so then get more done if it feels ok 👌🏻😬

Don't forget to take before and after pics gubbsy

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 28/02/2019 13:57

I'm considering this. I do a lot of swimming & exercise and the sweaty little bits at the back of my neck do my head in. Plus I have quite a low hairline at the back, so it grows out v quick and looks crap.

DuchessOfPhysics · 01/03/2019 14:31

oh I want to see it very badly!
