Get me to the birth on time but I don't want to smell of fish [grin]

I don't think there is an actual solution to this, but if anyone has a crystal ball or possibly a Star Trek matter-transporter they aren't using l would be eternally grateful.

My daughter is expecting baby number 2 in a few weeks.
She lives in a different country to me - involves flying - about 5 hours door to door. This time around she would like me to be there with her (and her husband) for her home birth. I couldn't be happier as last time it was "no visitors for at least 2 weeks". A very lively and very lovely 2 year old makes that a little complicated this time Grin

So......I don't want to be doing a last-minute mad dash (I go there quite frequently and the plane is usually packed) but neither do I want to be intruding on them for 2 weeks or more - first grandchild was 2 weeks overdue.

Any clairvoyants out there suggestions? Light-hearted responses are totally fine as I realise that nobody can possibly know the answer.

Thank you - I am very excited, but then I don't have to do the hard bit Grin

All going to plan so far. Arrived yesterday and hoping we don't have too long to wait. Busy batch cooking today while DD is sleeping and toddler is at nursery.

I got here yesterday, due date is next Monday waters broke while we were out in the park this afternoon (round of applause and cheers from some other random mums who were also visiting the petting zoo!!) Three and a half hours start to finish. My beautiful, beautiful granddaughter was born at home, in the bath at 2130 (German time). Big brother will have a nice surprise in the morning Grin

Congratulations to you all and your timing was impeccable. How amazing it must have all been.

Ninninannanoonoo · 05/04/2019 23:32

Yes, truly amazing. Contractions started almost immediately and were very quickly 2 - 3 mins apart.....midwife was still on her way, I was starting to get very nervous. Couldn't have been calmer in the end. Can't wait for cuddles in the morning!

!!!!
Wonderful news. And absolutely no fishy aroma. Well done all.

Just for a bit of closure.... I will be going home tomorrow so I think I have avoided the fishy smell. (pretty sure I will shed a few tears on the plane). Big brother is loving his new sister. So far she has been amazing. I spent all afternoon just gazing at her sleeping while Mum and Dad had a snooze and toddler was at nursery. I will be back in 3 weeks with Grandpa who can't wait to meet her. Still can't believe it actually all went according to plan Grin Feeling immensely privileged to have been invited to be part of this. Thank you for the flowers.
