Meghan's letter to her dad in The Sunday Fail

Shock really? Is this for real? She sent her dad a letter last August and he said she hasn't tried to contact her. He just gave the letter to the tabloids. If this is real he hasn't told the truth about anything.

Grab the popcorn.

In fact, I would love to see Charles, William and Harry jointly and publicly complain about the treatment Meghan has been receiving and jointly support her, even Diana didn't experience this amount of animosity and vitriol.

Springwalk · 10/02/2019 08:54

betaboo RF’s Silence can often be seen as being dignified, or it can be interpreted as a total lack of interest.

Which one?

borntobequiet · 10/02/2019 08:58

American cursive handwriting, as taught in many US schools, is very elaborate with lots of embellishments. Meghan’s writing isn’t all that unusual.

hopeishere · 10/02/2019 09:03

@labazsisgoingmad basically he staged photos before the wedding for money. Then didn't turn up and left her - presumably - dangling about this until the last minute. Has since given interviews to the media about it all.

strangerthongs · 10/02/2019 09:03

MM, through her friends, revealed the existence of the letter and it's contents. MM should have kept a dignified silence. As a pp says, she's poked an angry bear. She's done herself no favours.

I do sympathise with her for having such a toxic family, but in this recent incident she is not entirely blameless. She should have continued to ignore him and SM

Itssosunny · 10/02/2019 09:07

Daily Fail are such hypocrites. They allow most horrible anti-Meghan comments on their website.

Bowchicawowow · 10/02/2019 09:08

Really JaneHare. Why do you have such a low opinion of Meghan Markle to think that?

Wellcolourmehappy · 10/02/2019 09:16

I'm really quite ambivalent about MM and the RF and only read this post because I'm bored. But I did go read the article to see what every one is talking about and there does seem to be some inconsistencies. MM states in her letter that her phone number hasn't changed so he could always contact her but when he rings her number there is a recorded message saying that the number is no longer working. She also states that he didn't tell her he wouldn't be at the wedding but he shows a text message he sent her explaining that the doctors wouldn't let him fly so soon after 2 heart attacks.
I do wonder why , if you thought your Dad kept selling stories on you , you would write him a long letter, knowing that could be published?

Which kind of Dad or Mum would start selling stories on their own child?! That's enough not to talk to them for life. It looks like they (her dad, and his other daughter) wanted to have a 15 - minute fame (multiple times) through Meghan and can't forgive her now. Nothing decent in their behaviour.
Also remember what he said to Harry on the phone asking him to promise he would never hurt Meghan. He was so much about himself already then. Very inappropriate behaviour towards Harry undermining and humiliating him already then. Imagine how he would behave at the table or what he would say to other guests.

flumpybear · 10/02/2019 09:34

The family, apart from her mother, have been very toxic, but it niggles me
That she's lost valued staff so quickly, makes me think perhaps she's a diva too - nothing would surprise me in the future

SpanielEars070 · 10/02/2019 09:43

Instead of being part of her life, and walking her up the aisle, he's done nothing but try and make money out of her since she met Harry.

Despicable man.

Surely the RF need to speak out now about this, William was very vocal about the press treatment that Catherine and her family suffered. I think Harry needs to step up here too.

Weezol · 10/02/2019 09:44

A suggestion, same as 'an unnamed source'.

The press, especially rags like these put that caveat in place to try and give themselves some indication of truth

It's a common practice to run 'teaser' pieces from ' a source close to' or 'a close friend' in the run up to a big 'reveal' for the Sunday edition.

I had these tabloid fuckers after me for weeks when they mistakenly believed I had lived next door to a serial killer. Their tactics know no bounds. They were trying to get photos through mine and neighbours windows, followed me for several hundred metres shouting questions at me for days and I even had journos tracking me on Twitter. Thank fuck I don't have FB - they'd have been harvesting pictures like locusts. Notes on business cards through the door offering thousands of pounds for an 'exclusive' including one that offered 'more for pix' .

There was another wave when he got banged up, with the added extras of 'real life' magazines wanting 'my story'.

That was years ago and I still feel sick when I see a press pack, even on television.

Pomello · 10/02/2019 09:45

I cannot believe he thought the way to resolve this was to go public with that letter. He is an idiot.

wowfudge · 10/02/2019 09:46

If this is true, then he's an absolute arsehole. He sounds a complete narcissist tbh. There's a reason her mother, who no one has a bad word to say about, split up with him.

wowfudge · 10/02/2019 09:47

Looks to me as though he has financial woes and it's this the tabloids are exploiting. If he had an ounce of respect for others, he wouldn't do this though, however dire his circumstances.

Obloodyhell · 10/02/2019 09:48

Who was the serial killer? ( misses the point of the thread)

Pomello · 10/02/2019 09:50

Just read the letter. Wow, he's as thick as shit and a drunken narcissistic liability with no loyalty.. She has my sympathies.

Weezol · 10/02/2019 09:51

Purple. Carried a flower and said 'eh-oh' and lived on toast.

Bowchicawowow · 10/02/2019 09:51

I don’t believe the heart attack stories. Had that actually happened Samantha Grant (Markle) would have published loads of photos of him in his hospital bed. He was seen very soon after it was supposed to have happened walking around with a bag of takeaway food.

Teapot1984 · 10/02/2019 09:52

This man and his older children are a bunch of entitled selfish shits.

All they've appear to do so far is attempt to capitalise on her fame for their own financial gain. What kind of parent does that to their own child?,frankly if this man hadn't been such a douchebag he might have had a wonderful relationship with his daughter

Banjax · 10/02/2019 10:05

Well I might be slightly persuaded had she written an email or a text.....a letter, really? Who does that?

completely staged.

Also very carefully written, if you look at the spacing, its so contrived.

Obloodyhell · 10/02/2019 10:08

The letter was carefully written because she knew it would be published at some point.

And prior to this, MM knew that her DF would pore over it, analyse it and discuss every word with Samantha to read something into it that isn’t there. I write this speaking from experience Angry

Bowchicawowow · 10/02/2019 10:08

What are you saying Banjax? The letter is fake? She leaked it herself? Apparently she has always written lots of letters so this is quite normal for her, as is spacing between words in calligraphy.

motheroftinydragons · 10/02/2019 10:10

Oh he is a vile creature. That poor woman.
