What would she be using it for? 500mb doesn't go very far. A photo can be 1mb+

Weebitawks · 17/01/2019 18:36

Just got a Huawei p20 pro this week. So far I think it's great. I've generally had Samsung's and had an iPhone so a bit between phones (worst phone I've ever had)

I would recommend it. Really easy to use etc

As I said on your other thread, for a 10 year old, buy a Moto E or G series outright & get a Giffgaff rolling contract.

Motorola moto g6

£35 upfront - £25 then £10 goodbag

£6.16 monthly plus £10 monthly good bag says goody bag can be cancelled anytime

Crikey are you still asking? What info did you not get on your other lengthy thread yesterday? Is it a stealth boast or designed to get us all frothing at the thought of a not yet 10 year old being given an expensive phone?

As Furrycushion says - if you must get one, buy one outright and get a SIM only deal - ours costs £5 a month from BT and is perfectly adequate for my needs and the needs of my 12 year old. DD's Moto E3 or 4 (can't remember which) is 18m old and still fine. It cost under £80. We use wi-fi at home and would never need to use all the minutes and texts our deal includes. If your DD is only going to be watching videos or playing games on it, surely she doesn't need 5000 minutes and texts?

Honestly, our whole family have Moto phones with Giffgaff SIM only contracts. They are rolling monthly contracts that you can cancel at any time if a better deal comes up. My G6 is fantastic - far, far more than a 10 year old needs. Get a G5 or G5s or an Email. Really. A ten year old doesn't need a top of the range phone & Moto phones get fab write ups, just look. If you get a 2 year contract & your 10 year old breaks/loses the phone you are stuffed. Buy a cheap phone outright & insure it.

Homemadearmy · 17/01/2019 21:00

Have you looked at sky mobile, I got a better deal with them than tesco

Neverunderfed · 17/01/2019 21:03

We have Motorolas on Giffgaff too. I have the g6,on a £10 a monthly tariff which is more than I ever use data wise and I use a fair bit streaming music in the car etc.

Dh has a G5, on a £7.5 a month tariff I think.

kittenfun · 17/01/2019 21:30

Nokia 3.1 looks good 😆

StillMedusa · 17/01/2019 23:10

Honor 9 on Giffgaff here. Perfect... and I had a Samsung Galaxy 8 before , so went from a 'premium' phone to a lesser brand. I love it and it does everything the Samsung did..at a fraction of the price!

kittenfun · 18/01/2019 12:17

IPhone 6s £17 a mnth with Tesco
Nokia 3.1 £8.50 a mnth

What phone do you have currently? If android stick with that if Apple, go for iPhone.

I personally can’t beat android phones and would defo go for iPhone. Mine always last a couple of years and I always upgrade before they wear out / break and trade in for decent price too.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 18/01/2019 12:30

I'd avoid iPhone 6 - that's quite an old phone and apple allow their older phones to become obsolete because they want you to update. Get a 7 if you want iPhone.
I have a Huawei mate lite and it's fine - battery great, dies everything my Samsung did but for much less money.

kittenfun · 18/01/2019 14:22

It's for daughter ?

IPhone 6s or Nokia 3.1

OP posts:
BusterTheBulldog · 18/01/2019 15:06

I would go Nokia then

PickAChew · 18/01/2019 19:05

If not giffgaff, then three 123 payg. Depends on your local network coverage.

kittenfun · 18/01/2019 20:53

Going to get Nokia 3.1 with Tesco mobile £8.50 a mnth

OP posts:
dementedma · 18/01/2019 20:58

i prefer Android and have a Samsung. Work has supplied me with an iphone. both are ok.
Pay £13 a month for my Samsung contract

potatoscone · 18/01/2019 20:59

Why are you posting this again?

Aragog · 18/01/2019 21:03

Iphones break after a year to persuade you to buy another (and Apple software is crap)

Really?
In the house we've had them over the past few years. I choose to replace mine every two years on contract but they've always been in perfect condition on doing so. No idea what you're doing to the phone for it to break after 12 months.
