Probably pop to Tesco, at 10am or so, otherwi8se taking down the christmas tree, doing some work, OH will cook..

Dh has just left to pick up his sister from London where she celebrated new yr. She's over from America and we haven't seen her in 18 months yhs, so we are super excited. She and her boyf will be staying with us for two weeks.
When they get here, we are having a second Christmas day, with gifts and a big meal, crackers, party hats, games, etc. Can't wait!

lucysmam · 01/01/2019 09:50

Happy New Year everyone :)

I'm taking the tree down, cleaning the living room & we'll see about the rest.

Dd1 will most likely be superglued to her phone/the x-box for the day & dd2 will follow me round the house like a lost puppy (she's 9, not a toddler, goodness knows why she still does it but it does my nut in...I turn round to go do something else & she's there right up my backside Confused )

Beef's in the slow cooker, we'll have it as a roast later on I think.

maddiemookins16mum · 01/01/2019 09:56

Just got up, quiet night in last night.
Having a tidy up, getting ready for work tomorrow, making soup for lunch and work lunches. Putting some washing on/outside (as sunny and breezy here).
Also going to clear car out/wash it.
Just got some fresh salmon fillets out the freezer to defrost for dinner.
Intend to slob on the sofa with tea, Christmas cake and shortbread later and then watch Luther in bed tonight before an early night.

YahBasic · 01/01/2019 10:26

Tree is down and house was blitzed yesterday.

We’re still in bed, so might have a long bath, party food for lunch and films on the sofa.

Whattheduck · 01/01/2019 10:33

Dd at mil's
Dh still in bed
I'm drinking coffee and eating toast whilst watching tv
Just put a Gammon Joint in the oven and will also cook a joint of Beef as mil is bringing dd home and staying for a late lunch
Will probably whizz the hoover round and have a tidy up
Once mil has gone we will more than likely watch a film or play a game

SweetPeaPods · 01/01/2019 10:40

Massive family lunch with the in laws at 1 1pm. Anyone want to swap??
Would love to spend the day at home with dc and potter around the house.

LittleMachine · 01/01/2019 10:40

I’m doing Christmas Day as I was away for Christmas. We’ve already done presents but I’m cooking Christmas dinner for my dad, my brother and his girlfriend. It smells amazing.

Topsy44 · 01/01/2019 11:03

Pottering this morning, just put Xmas tree away, wash on and a quick tidy. Will go out for a walk with DD in a bit when I summon up some energy and then this afternoon cozy up and watch a film while eating the Xmas chocs (while desperately trying not to think about going back to work tomorrow!).

RhinestoneCowgirl · 01/01/2019 11:06

Only just got up here, eating porridge with DD. Planning a lazy day. This afternoon we've been invited over to a friend's house for doughnuts (it's a Dutch new year tradition apparently)

HolyMountain · 01/01/2019 11:11

I’m doing nothing all day.

I’m watching ET atm, will think about food for tonight at some point and that’s it.

Luther tonight!Grin

BeeFarseer · 01/01/2019 11:14

We're having lunch on the beach.

Before you all go green with envy, it is a British beach and lunch will be ham sandwiches, garnished with gritty sand and eaten stoically with rapidly numbing fingers.

I can't wait. Grin I love walking along the coast when it's cold.

Mum2OneTeen · 01/01/2019 11:17

Today has been spent trying to coax, trick, or force our suspicious Ddog to take a variety of meds prescribed after a late vet visit yesterday.

This has involved peanut butter, dog chocolate (aka carob), hiding things in dog food, pleading, giving the tablet enclosed in a dog treat, and large amounts of frustration. In bed now after eventually getting it all into him tonight. He looking depressed with a shaved rump & sporting a collar of shame.

Such a auspicious start to the new year, and tomorrow we get to do it all again, and again for the next nine days!

Did have a giggle at the news report that Sydney's showoff new year's fireworks & light display had a typo declaring "New Year 2018"

Hope everyone else has a better start to 2019!

BoringSoupBeforeTheTurkeyFeast · 01/01/2019 11:19

Cleaning, putting a wash on, making a chilli later for today and tomorrow, going for a walk to shift some (loads of) calories from last night’s curry and wine.

That’s it. Until then, I’m watching tv.

BoringSoupBeforeTheTurkeyFeast · 01/01/2019 11:22

Oh yeah, the Xmas tree is coming down.
How exciting is my day 🙄😄.

blibblibs · 01/01/2019 11:31

About to go and make pancakes, DC are Nit long up after staying awake for the bells.
Steak pie for tea later and not much else.
Feel I should take the tree down but I love the lights and I'll have a big empty space if I do so may just leave it for a few more days.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 01/01/2019 11:33

Windows are all open, washer on, dishwasher on, and the tree is about to get packed away. Kettle is boiling ready for the hug mug of coffee it will take to power me through the glitter storm.

heebie · 01/01/2019 11:37

Cleaning, cooking and taking the decorations down, didn't drink last night so feeling motivated. Might take the DC to see the Mary Poppins movie if they want I do

MamaOoohhh · 01/01/2019 11:38

Absolutely nothing Confused
Me and 2 DS are still in pjs and DH is fast asleep due to illness....

Our last week had pretty much looked like this too, surrounded by Christmas toys and food with the odd trip to the park thrown in! I think I should feel like it's boring, but it's actually pretty lovely!

anothermansmother · 01/01/2019 11:41

We've only been up an hour, it was the first year that both dc managed to stay awake until midnight.
Today I'm doing the washing and ironing, and generally get back into done sort of routine. But first I'm making bacon sandwiches to take up to ds when I wake him.

maddiemookins16mum · 01/01/2019 11:51

Steak pie....that takes me back to being little, always had steak pie on NYD for tea when we lived in Greenock (disclaimer: I accept it might not just be a Scottish thing).

BasinHaircut · 01/01/2019 11:58

DH and DS have gone cinema and bowling, I’m having a day on my own laying in the sofa and reading/catching up on TV.

Back to work tomorrow and I have not stopped over Xmas so grabbing a bit of downtime today.

Childrenofthesun · 01/01/2019 12:03

I'm surprised how many people are taking their trees down. I always leave mine up till 12th night!

We have friends staying. I was planning on going for a walk followed by a pub lunch but everyone slept in except me who had to get up with the kids so looks like it will be pub lunch followed by a walk.

SneakyGremlins · 01/01/2019 12:04

Nipping out to grab a Pokémon now and then staying in probably!

Justgivemesomepeace · 01/01/2019 12:06

Cleaning up the mess, get rid of the tree (will keep the rest of the decs up), then going to nandos with family.

runwithme · 01/01/2019 12:09

Confined to bed, ill (not a hangover!). Going to watch tv and sleep all day, as long as DH can cope with the DC. Am feeling so bloody sorry for myself.
