A&E or bed?

Basically, I'm in no pain, but I literally can't stay awake for the past week. I'm sleeping probably 18 out of 24 hours. I have no energy whatsoever. What would you do? Would A&E just tell me to go home? Any point in me trying to get there?

I'd phone 111 OP and see what they advise. You must have an OOH service nearby. I had a chest infection the winter before last and had terrible pain breathing in that turned out to be pneumonia. I only went in because DH phoned OOH and was threatening to kill me if I didn't stop coughing. I was so so tired that DH kept having to wake me up to have a drink and tablets.

Regnamechanger · 19/11/2018 18:15

Call 111 (and cancel the cheque).

Please don't be annoyed with me but I am terrified of hospital. I'm just so tired. I'll be fine I'm sure.

Please get some help NOW phone 111
I had a chest infection and tried to ignore it but ended up with chest sepsis and almost died so just make the call

Conseulabananahammock · 19/11/2018 18:55

Being terrified of hospital is one thing. But potentially avoiding the call and becoming very ill is quite another.

PurpleDaisies · 19/11/2018 19:00

111 might not send you to hospital. They might decide you need a GP appointment tomorrow.

Even if they want to send you to hospital, you don’t have to go.

You need proper medical advice so you can decide based on that.

Sugarhunnyicedtea · 19/11/2018 19:01

Just to echo everyone else - call 111, you say you're terrified of hospital but your thread title asks if you should go to a&e.

PoliticalBiscuit · 19/11/2018 19:13

Just call 111, they'll triage you properly and go through all of your symptoms and you will get it sorted. You sound tired, once you call they will call you back and you can go to sleep waiting for them and not need to spend any more energy wondering what to do.

PortiaCastis · 19/11/2018 19:14

If an infection gets into your blokdstream that's sepsis which can lead to organ failure hcps had to give me drugs to get my blood supply back to the organs but then it wasn't getting to extremeties and my toe died so I lost it, please don't let that happen to you just get some help immediately

Tellthemnothing · 19/11/2018 19:16

I appear to have perked up. Well, enough to get annoyed at another thread on here lol. I'll see how I am tomorrow.

I know what my thread title asks. I'm hoping I don't need that.

FiveStoryFire · 19/11/2018 19:21

I would definitely call 111 with those symptoms.

JuniperBeer · 19/11/2018 19:21

OP you’ve been given lots of helpful advice on here. The main one being rung 111 and they will be able to get you an OOH gp appt I’d advise you to come in to a&W.
It’s also been suggested that you do what you’ve been advised by your own drs surgery and ring at 8am for a drs appt.

You’re ignoring advice which comes across as attention seeking.

Sugarhunnyicedtea · 19/11/2018 19:28

If you are genuinely sleeping 18 out of 24 hours and have the pains you describe you need to call 111

BertieBotts · 19/11/2018 19:34

Are you on your own? I would be concerned enough to want another adult observing you if you're keen to wait until the morning.

Butterflycookie · 19/11/2018 19:34

Sounds like a chest infection. Like others have said call 111.
