Is it normal to only like even numbers?

I hate odd numbers especially double odd numbers eg teens, thirties, seventies. Numbers divisible by 5 are ok though.

Normal here!
I particularly like 6, 28, 36 & 42.
I had a secretary who shared my liking for 36 & 42, God knows how we got onto that subject!
My least favourite number is 7, it’s spiky and awkward.
I was pleased to turn 48 recently as 47 is a really shit number and I like 48, it nearly makes the favourite list.

CountFosco · 10/11/2018 02:07

My best friend is the square root of -1

soulrider · 10/11/2018 07:48

That makes your imaginary friend a letter CountFosco Smile

snozzlemaid · 10/11/2018 08:06

I love numbers!
I'm not a fan of prime numbers, they make me feel uncomfortable somehow. Much prefer even numbers and 5s are ok.
When I was a child I used to sit with A4 notebook and write lists of numbers. My favourite was the doubling sequence mentioned earlier. But sometimes I'd just write every number and see how high I could get. Hours of fun!GrinGrin

Synaesthesia, pps. Have a google and you might find lots of other stuff that fits your perceptions.

37 actually makes me feel ill, it's waxy and brownish-coloured.

16, 25, multiples of 9 - beautiful, soothing patterns.

TheLastMermaid · 10/11/2018 08:33

WiseWoman I've always loved 64!

naivetyisthenewblack · 10/11/2018 08:35

Even numbers always seemed friendlier somehow - but I do love 9.

Bumply · 10/11/2018 08:42

Vague preference for even numbers.
17 is bad luck in Italy like our 13. Hence no deck 17 on Italian owned MSC cruise ships.

Allthebubbles · 10/11/2018 08:52

I love 5s, and 25 is the best number. I used to only turn my light off on a quarter of an hour.
I've also had ages that felt wrong, 31 was not good at all.
Strangely neither of my children's birth dates feel quite right to me. Possibly because my sons due date was near a 25th and then he was late! His is all odd numbers but they do add up to 20 whereas my daughters day and year are even but the month is odd and that feels out of kilter! Brains are weird!
Goes off to google weird numbers....

BedsideCabinetisnotavailable · 10/11/2018 09:08

Same as OP, except I don't like 4's either.

LittleBookofCalm · 10/11/2018 11:49

9 is great. the 9 times table is magic
33 is my preferred setting on tv volume.
12 on the car radio.
alarm clock set 9 minutes fast.

kaytee87 · 10/11/2018 11:51

I prefer tv volume to be at a number divisible by 5 but if that's not possible (too loud or quiet) then it has to be an even number.

london1971 · 10/11/2018 13:20

Has to be evens, odds feel weird and something bad may happen if I can't round up to evens. Petrol pump has to end in even, volume on tv, counting windows on buildings etc , I have to split a window in my mind if not even. Always thought I was the only one with thoughts about numbers.

wanderings · 10/11/2018 18:35

Nobody curious about weird numbers?

70 is weird because its factors 1, 2, 5, 7, 10, 14, 35 add to more than 70, but no set of them adds to 70. Weird numbers are rare.

142857 is a beautiful number. Multiply it or 2, or 3, or any number up to 6 and see what happens.

Also 12345679 multiplied by 9.

StandardPoodle · 10/11/2018 19:32

Evens are the most pleasant numbers - odds are jarring somehow.
And I see days of the week as an up and down line too - Saturday and Sunday are high (favourites) and weekdays are lower.
I'm so pleased it's not just me!

Notverygrownup · 10/11/2018 19:38

I love this thread. I love MN.

Please will one of you marry me? My dh really really doesn't understand this conversation, or why anyone would want to have it.

Now I am all smiley. Carry on, my people!

DoubleNegativePanda · 10/11/2018 20:58

@StandardPoodle you're right, except for me Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday are my comfortable "even" days. Saturday, Monday, (especially) Wednesday and Friday are the odds.

NualaCassia · 10/11/2018 21:50

Even numbers only but multiple’s of 5 are ok and 7 is great.

Sunday’s and Monday’s are happy days. Thursday’s are crappy days. December and January are good months as are April, July and September. Other months are a bit meh.

adynerfa · 10/11/2018 22:30

Same as you op. I was unhappy when dc2 was overdue and it looked mist likely they'd be born on the 19th. They hung on until an even numbered date. We're all even numbered dates in our family.

TwistinMyMelon · 10/11/2018 22:35

I like 3. Otherwise even numbers. I especially like 8.

TwistinMyMelon · 10/11/2018 22:35

Yes and I agree odd numbers are spiked whereas even numbers are smooth and round.

TwistinMyMelon · 10/11/2018 22:37

@GeoffreysCat I love Thursday

TwistinMyMelon · 10/11/2018 22:39

Actually just realised I really like 33 as well.

UterusUterusGhali · 10/11/2018 23:07

YANBU.

I have 3 children and it bothers me enormously. I'll be at peace if I ever have a fourth.

5 is the only odd number I can really tollerate, but even as a small child I felt uncomfortable even talking about odds.
