Bastard fireworks

Look at the mess. Absolutely raging and now jumping every time a firework goes off
It came through my window, missed me by a few inches and landed next to me
I thought "fuck, that's not exploded yet" and ran out the living room, slammed the door as it's a fire door and as I did so I heard it go off

Oh my goodness! Thank goodness you ran out! How awful

LanguidLobster · 06/11/2018 19:53

Oh god, that's really unlucky. At least you're safe but it has made a mess.

Do you know who did it?

Ollivander84 · 06/11/2018 19:58

Kids I think. The cat ran with me as it exploded behind us

I was going to ask about Ollie, he probably picked up something was wrong and ran with you.

Little shits, hope tonight is quieter

Ollivander84 · 06/11/2018 20:21

Police have been, it was a category 2? rocket

At least Ollie is!!

I did mention this earlier to the corner shop lady (obviously without saying 'well I was talking on the internet...', instead I said 'I was reading about...') and she hates fireworks and hopes they are banned for personal use next year.

She asked if you had home insurance. Must have been a terrible fright, at least you've let the police know and it shouldn't happen again.

Ollivander84 · 07/11/2018 00:22

Yes, insured to the hilt. I have both contents and buildings insurance, actually just renewed the contents insurance. Had it for 14 years and never claimed so hopefully should be ok. Just worried as I can't remember how much the excess is

RavenLG · 07/11/2018 00:24

And I’m shutting my window.

Thanks bloody awful, glad you’re ok!

RavenLG · 07/11/2018 00:25

That’s *

Ollivander84 · 07/11/2018 00:26

I only had it open a crack too, was getting too hot drying my hair. You don't think that you can't have your window open at 7pm :(
I can't even describe the noise as it went off, it was SO loud

OP posts:
PickAChew · 07/11/2018 00:28

Thank goodness it's been too cold for open windows, here.

Though it's been OK, tbh. Most noise from very nearby gRdebs or official displays.

HelenaDove · 07/11/2018 02:48

Oh God Olivander ive only just seen this thread. Im so glad both you and your lovely little cat are okay.

this is exactly why they should be for public organized displays only.

Henryismyfriend · 07/11/2018 04:46

This is awful, I hope that you and the cat are ok, I doubt you'll find out who did it but hopefully the damage can be repaired on the insurance.

Damned things need banning for public sale.

Take care.

EscapeToTheMoon · 07/11/2018 07:05

OMG how awful! Little bastards😡 indeed they should be banned for personal use. Sparklers and all.

Stephisaur · 07/11/2018 07:08

Oh god, that’s awful.

Last year a friend of a friend lost his house when some little shits shoved some lit fireworks through the letterbox. The whole house was a write off. Thankfully they were out at the time!

It’s too easy for them to get into the wrong hands :( glad you and the cat are ok x

Tiscold · 07/11/2018 07:41

So sorry this has hapoened

Ollivander84 · 07/11/2018 08:32

And now I have to find £350 for my excess 😭

OP posts:
adoggymama · 07/11/2018 08:46

@Ollivander84 that's awful!! Why should you have to pay for God's sake! Absolutely ridiculous.

I really think they should be banned to the public.

Ollivander84 · 07/11/2018 08:55

Nobody else will pay so yeah I'll be £350 out of pocket and I don't have the money

OP posts:
Tiscold · 07/11/2018 10:59

Are you in a work union?

I am with usdaw and they helped me get some money from the givernment due to the crime.

Search victim of crime compensation. I got mugged and beaten up and i got 400 pound from the government to compensate me.

Ollivander84 · 07/11/2018 11:08

I'm not sadly. I've no actual injuries visible so won't get compensation

OP posts:
Tiscold · 07/11/2018 11:22

Ah right that's a shame and extremely annoying.

Is there anyway for you to get that money. The only thing i could think is apply for a zero percent credit card and do it on that and slowly pay it back before the zero percent period is up. However then obviously you're technically in debt which is a risky place to be.

Ollivander84 · 07/11/2018 11:26

Yes, I'm already clearing debt so not an option sadly! I have two jobs so I'll just have to do extra shifts

OP posts:
DeadCertain · 07/11/2018 12:08

Frightening stuff; very pleased that no one was hurt.
