How often do you pee?

I’m not a pee troll.....

I know I pee more than the average person, but I think it may be waaaay more than average.

Tomorrow I’m going to actually count how often I go, but in the 2.5 hours since DH has been home I think I’ve gone 5 times...

I very very rarely ever do wake in the night for one though.. so can go 9 hours then

vdbfamily · 31/10/2018 23:26

hugely psychological for me. If I am near a toilet and busy, I can pit it off for hours knowing the toilet is available. If there is no toilet around, I will think about needing a wee far too much and feel desperate to go, in a way that I am sure I would not were a toilet available!

Devillanelle · 31/10/2018 23:29

Quite a lot but it's psychological. When I'm busy I could go 5-6 hours without a pee. Yet at night I have to pee last thing, if I pee then spend a while on my phone in bed I will have to get up and pee again even if it is only 5 minutes later.

chipsnmayo · 31/10/2018 23:37

Tbh depends how much coffee I've had but generally about 5 times per day, rarely need to go at night.

I can also hold on for about hour.

Petitepamplemousse · 31/10/2018 23:39

I drink loads but can hold it for a while. Abot every three or four hours.

Butterflycookie · 31/10/2018 23:39

I have an overactive bladder and a very small one. It can only hold up to 250-300ml max. Was told that 8 times a day is normal- every 2 hrs

overagain · 31/10/2018 23:42

All the time. Following DS I had urge and stress incontinence. They but me on oxybutynin and I had months of physio and I was almost back to normal. I'm now 26 weeks pregnant and wet myself today because I did go before my walk home. If this continues I'll have to get signed off from work (work in the community so not always a loo close by) because I can't risk wetting myself in public.

After DC I found the urge incontinence really debilitating. Almost made me house bound. I hated going out if it involved a long car journey or if not been before. I could just go for a walk. I'm so upset at being back in that place again.

purpleme12 · 31/10/2018 23:43

Every hour? Not really sure but I'm sure it's more than usual. My bladder is weak and I can't really last long I don't think. It's not great

dicdicnurse · 31/10/2018 23:46

2-3 times a day and I never get up in the night. I know I don't drink enough but I think being a nurse means I'm conditioned to survive in the hardest of circumstances!

mycatplotsdeath · 31/10/2018 23:48

I literally have no time at work to go to the loo for the first 6 hours.. after that it's like I've opened the floodgates and constantly go

Juanbablo · 01/11/2018 05:35

About 4 times a day. I don't drink enough. But I do have a strong bladder and can hold it for ages.

5BlindMice · 01/11/2018 07:13

Wonder how many of us are logging our toilet visits today!

I’ve apparently got a large bladder, and they’ve done the scan tests where they get me to bursting point, scan me, then scan again after I’ve gone to toilet. I think I was over 500ml and after going there was 20-30ml left so seems fine there.

Reading some of these replies is reminding me it gets way worse during my periods. I used to suffer with suspected IC and during bad flare ups I could be on toilet every 5 mins, I don’t think my bladder has fully recovered from that.

I’ve been to incontinence clinic. Drink more water, train your bladder - sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t.

It’s gotten a lot worse recently but so have other symptoms of menopause. My last referral I was given oestrogen cream to squirt up my hoo haa. Made no bloody difference but did bring on a shitty migraine and hormonal mood swings.

I cut down on caffeine to one cup of coffee in morning - made no bloody difference.

overagain · 01/11/2018 09:23

paganmolloy I had to cut all caffeine (and fruit juice and fizzy drinks) I can pretty much only drink water and decaf tea/ coffee. I've had a rare caffeinated coffee this morning and I'm practically dancing now!

I need to do more pelvic floor exercises really and also try the distraction techniques I was taught as it's a vicious cycle of wetting and panic, anxiety about wetting all making it worse. Thank god for tena!

Can't wait until I can take oxybutynin again!

Cocolepew · 01/11/2018 09:54

Cutting out diet coke has definitely reduced my pering.
I'm seeing a pelvic health physio atm, I'm waiting to be seen by the Dr who did my mesh op a few years ago.
She said if you feel the urge try to do a half pelvic floor lift. It mucks up the signal from your bladder to your brain that you need to go.

Ilovefluffysheep · 01/11/2018 11:23

I previously had overactive bladder. Was peeing on average around 15 times a day, sometimes more. Had every single treatment going.

Eventually had my bladder removed 3 years ago, a new one made from bowel, and a channel though my belly button to catheterise through (called a mitrofanoff). I now empty every 4 hours, go 8 hours at night, and it is bloody wonderful!

3boysandabump · 01/11/2018 12:25

I’ve apparently got a large bladder

I have as well apparently. When I had my 3rd son I had a section so had to do the pee in a jug thing. I asked the midwife what to write on the chart if I couldn't measure it because I'd done more than the jug could hold. She told me that was impossible and made me show her the totally full jug then next time I went.

LizzieBennettDarcy · 01/11/2018 12:34

Hourly! I go at least twice during the night too.

But I do drink loads of tea/coffee/water at work, and go onto sugar free squash or water in the late afternoon. I'm also on BP tablets that act as diuretics.... I pee like a horse for the 1st three hours after I've taken them. I never take them before a car journey!

Delatron · 01/11/2018 14:12

Probably every hour and a half.
At least 4 times a night which drives me utterly insane and I am going to see someone of about this. I’m knackered.

I fear they will say give up all caffeine though. Definitely getting worse as I get older.

Crinkle77 · 01/11/2018 15:59

I have had an overactive bladder since my early 20's. I probably go every 1 to 2 hours however I will often feel the urge to go again after about half an hour of going. It does dominate my life and I will avoid going places of there is no toilet available and feel anxious when going out or going on a journey. I have even had to go home when we have the dog out for a country walk cos I need the loo. I have tried physio, bladder retraining and tablets but with little success

Crinkle77 · 01/11/2018 16:05

delatron yes they probably will tell you to give up caffeine. I find cutting down helps but does not solve the problem. I erm went to physio and had to keep a drink and wee diary. Once I grabbed a cartoon of Ribena when I was out cos it was the cheapest stink in the shop. The physio spotted that and said blackcurrant was to blame for my problems. I said that was a one off and don't normally drink Ribena but she seemed to quick to want to find something to blame.

Delatron · 01/11/2018 16:21

Thanks crinkle. Yes I think that why I hold off going to see someone. I enjoy a couple
of coffees a day and I’ll take the hit on weeing more often.

I’m sure it’s hormonal, linked to the peri menopause. I sleep terribly and when I wake I decide I need the loo. I’m tryinh melatonin but it doesn’t do much to help the night waking.

anniehm · 01/11/2018 16:37

4-6 times depending on caffeine consumption/trip to pub

NoWordForFluffy · 01/11/2018 17:25

I've gone 6 times so far today. The last was a preemptive, just about to leave work, trickle. I wouldn't have gone if I wasn't about to leave.

I have a large bladder too. My first post-catheter wee after my ELCS having DS was 750ml!

5BlindMice · 01/11/2018 18:28

So in 14 hours I’ve drank 1.5 litres & have pee’d 16 times!! I’ll probably go at least another 4 times before bed too.

Completely ridiculous!
