I was quite enjoying it till she said 'would of' 🙈

I'm completely baffled. How did they police woman know where that family lived. One minute she was at the police station and the next she was dressed in civvies in their front room?

vampirethriller · 07/10/2018 19:27

The actor playing Ryan? Has had at least 3 accents so far, none of them Sheffield..

I so wanted to love it, so excited for a female doctor esp played by an actress I love...it’s shit!

Odiepants · 07/10/2018 19:41

8 yr old D'S has lived it and I thought it was very watchable. Good Sunday night viewing Smile

MrsMozart · 07/10/2018 19:42

I'm liking it Grin

Odiepants · 07/10/2018 19:42

Loved it not lived of course!

Afonavon · 07/10/2018 20:28

I liked it, but not the weird ‘staring next week week’ bollocks at the end that went on foreeeeeveeeeer.

ClemClemFandango · 07/10/2018 20:39

I really enjoyed it.

I go all weird with bumps/lumps though so had to keep looking away when the bad guy/alien thing took it's mask off.

BambooWhoosh · 07/10/2018 20:40

How did that guy get that giant tagine from the woods into his van on his own?

LucilleBluth · 07/10/2018 20:55

Jodie was amazing, the supporting actors not so much. Bradly Walsh is too recognisable in order to suspend disbelief. The bike riding guy was dire, absolutely dire. The plot was entertaining enough though. Teeth face guy was very frightening.

ratspeaker · 07/10/2018 20:58

Bamboo he had another guy help him, gave him money to go off.

Polis woman knew the family from school days, she was also. Going round taking statements on the train

I see every planet still has a North. ( or South from my pov )

Bit that puzzled me, the sleeves were too long so how come the boots still fitted? Or were her feet still Capaldi sized and still regenerating?
Interesting line about not having to buy womens clothes for a while.

Liked it. Didn't like the trailer stuff. C'mon "no spoilers sweetie"

StillMedusa · 07/10/2018 21:32

I was prepared to not enjoy it (DT was my favourite) but I think she makes an excellent Doctor.
And DS2 who has autism and is a serious fan loved her so all is right in our world :D

Plot was ok. New theme music was not good. Found the crane guy pretty amusing with his affirmations. Jodie was awesome.

I really hope the storylines pick up as the season goes on.

luckycat007 · 07/10/2018 23:03

I like the lady but no one can beat DT for me. Also like new theme tune. Couldn't stand Matt Smith...in fact stopped watching when he was on it. Clara drove me round the bend too. So far so good with this one.

PlantsArePeopleToo · 07/10/2018 23:30

When did she say 'would of'? I don't remember that bit.

cucumbergin · 07/10/2018 23:39

Loved the new Doctor, though it's still a bit too high a death rate to let the 6 yr old watch I think. The tooth faced guy was the stuff of nightmares!

Kinda wish it'd been Grace instead of Graham to go along with them though.

Wickedstepmum67 · 07/10/2018 23:41

‘Giant tagine from the woods’ 😆 And, yes ‘could of’ made me twitch a bit!

safariboot · 08/10/2018 01:45

I'm just glad I can understand the Doctor again. With Capaldi I'd be turning the volume up and up and still couldn't make out half of what he was saying.

Confuzzlediddled · 08/10/2018 02:05

Im Interested to see where they go with the dyspraxia thing, my DT's were definitely interested, as in the only one in a household of 5 that's not diagnosed with DCD I wonder if it will show some of the issues it causes ( they'll be fucked if he has to tie a knot or follow directions!)

Bradly Walsh is too recognisable in order to suspend disbelief

Qnd billie piper and bonnie langford weren't??????

Or just to name a few that have appeared Frank Skinner, James Cordon, Peter Capaldi, David Sucet, .....

You think the bloke from cornation street, LAW and Order, and the chase is to regonisable but you have no problem with the bloke from famtasy football being a guard on a train in outerspace, or that malcom tucker was suddenly in pompeii, or that polrot was a landlord of a student house

DoryNow · 08/10/2018 08:24

Hilarious how everyone is dissecting plotlines & minute details!

It's a kids drama, with DW you have to suspend belief a bit as the plots are often bonkers Grin

But this one had a nasty alien, lots of action & like a lot of series openers was a bit cumbersome as people were introduced & explained.

I thought JW was great as the Dr, I've seen the regeneration of most of them, living with a brother who was the original DW geek & there's always a howl of dissatisfaction as the new one gets settled in. Some fans flounce off, new ones get drawn in. For me Chris Chibnal, the new writer has taken it back to the old style story telling- for me the Moffat years clever though they were, took DW away from the kids a bit. Now for loads of new kids and most importantly ( particularly this week) for young girls a kickass female role model.

Here's to watching from behind the sofa -go Doctor!

Bluelonerose · 08/10/2018 08:27

Thought they kept it bloody quiet that it was on.
Loving the new Dr wasn't a massive fan of the old one.
I love Bradley Walsh too thrilled he's in it.

The ONLY thing that annoyed me was it's a 2 parter. Much prefer single episodes.

Did anyone else think it was a cyberman at first?
