Did your baby keep their curls?

Just wondering if my DD’s beautiful ringlets will go straight if I ever get her hair cut, which is what everyone is saying it’s likely to do!

Is your hair curly? Is your DH’s?

whyispeppainthenightgarden · 02/10/2018 21:00

Why would it go straight if cut? I thought whether you had curly or straight hair was to do with folices and if they are round or flat. ? I kept my curls

eatingtomuch · 02/10/2018 21:00

My daughter has kept her curls, my son did not

DD2 had the most amazing hair when she was born. First it was fluffy and black, then it grew out dark blonde, there was a visible stripe (people thought I'd dyed my newborns hair Grin). Then it went curly, absolutely gorgeous. Then it finally straighted out by 2. DH has wavey hair and was proper curly as a toddler, mine ispoker straight.

All this hair excitement was exacerbated because DD1 was as bald as a coot for the first year.

IamPickleRick · 02/10/2018 21:06

Mine was curly until the first cut, aged 3. I still have one of the ringlets that was cut off even though it’s straight now.

DP was also curly as a child, straight now but it’s short so we can’t see how curly it could get if it was long.

Mine went from head of curls to poker straight.

FaithInfinity · 02/10/2018 21:08

Yes at 5 DD’s curls are going nowhere! DH has curls - or he would if he didn’t shave it off!

FreeButtonBee · 02/10/2018 21:12

My DS has beautiful golden angelic curls all over his head. They all grew out by 2 . Now just wavy and mousy. He’s still gorgeous of course but I miss those baby curls

MrsDeanWinchester75 · 02/10/2018 21:14

Dd used to have a curl in the ends of her hair but it's very straight now, even the bumps from wearing a plait all day drop out within a few minutes.

Friends dd also had very curly hair as a toddler but ended up straight from the age of 3, her Mum has curly hair.

Bear2014 · 02/10/2018 21:15

My DD has her baby curls still aged almost 5 but she has very slow growing hair and only ever had one trim

Comealongpond89 · 02/10/2018 21:15

Dd had lovely curls as a baby. Neither me not her dad has curly hair. I've never had it cut, she's 3 now. This is how it looks now

Ds (9) still has curly hair. He had very tight ringlets up until about 4 but he would still have looser ringlets now if his hair was longer.

sunshineandshowers21 · 02/10/2018 21:20

my first son was bald until he was about one and a half and then he had long blonde curls until he was seven and asked for a ‘big boy haircut.’ my second son was born with loads of blonde hair and now it’s stick straight and impossible to do anything with 🙈 i’m keeping my fingers crossed that the baby on the way has ginger curls like me!

Believeitornot · 02/10/2018 21:23

Cutting hair will not be the reason for any curls going.

My dcs both had curly hair and still do.

flissfloss65 · 02/10/2018 21:25

My ds had beautiful golden ringlets after being bald for the first year and a bit.

His hair is now dark but still curly and he keeps it short at the sides and big and curly at the front.

lalaloopyhead · 02/10/2018 21:26

Dd3 had curly hair when she was small, now has a kind of dragged through a hedge wave.

Crunchymum · 02/10/2018 21:26

They have dropped a but but yes, DD still has her curls.

Yes, my daughter kept hers, she's now 21 and I think adjusting, she went through thr normal stage of hating it and has to do the whole curly girl thing, mine is wavy and my husbands woild be curly I think if he let it grow.

This is it, she's got proper ringlets.

I have naturally curly hair. My dh had curly hair as a baby, our son has curly hair. It didn't change after he had it cut. He's 3 and only had it done once as it didn't need to be done until a couple of months ago. But it's exactly the same as it was before,

happymummy12345 · 02/10/2018 21:31

@Comealongpond89 your daughters hair is gorgeous. Sorry I had to say that.

Comealongpond89 · 02/10/2018 21:35

Thank you happymummy! I love it. All the pics on here are lovely. I'm too scared to cut dds because I don't want her curls to go!

IamPickleRick · 02/10/2018 22:45

Cutting hair will not be the reason for any curls going.

Not the reason but if it starts to grow through straight and I cut off the curly ends, the curls will have gone.

Loving all these photos of curly hair! I am very jealous!

DS has his first haircut yesterday and his hair is now much curlier with the weight taken off. DH and I both have curly hair though.

Sallystyle · 03/10/2018 06:55

My boys all had very curly hair. They got it cut off when they were old enough to ask, it grew back super thick and no more curls.

There is a slight wave which I think would be curlier if they weren't cursed with my super thick hair.

Their dad had ringlets as a child and curly hair runs in my family.

crocsaretoocoolforschool · 03/10/2018 06:58

My dd's stayed wavy rather than curly but then about age 11 the curl came back and she now has the most amazing mane of long curly hair -which she spends hours straightening!
