Not sure how long this thread will last for, but here goes.....

The Sun headline today is less than complimentary. I won't provide a link but basically Beckham avoided a speeding fine.

Is this the start of the backlash? It seems that the tide is turning and people are getting fed up of them (family as a whole).

Disclaimer: please don't write anything that will get you sued. I am not a journo TABLOID SCUM. just curious whether this is the start of the decline and fall.

Yes, I feel sorry for the younger kids. Please be kind. But it's odd how a family were lauded as The Best Thing Ever and now don't seem to be able to do right for doing wrong.

I don’t really see why it matters wetber harper was IVF- they’re no different from all the other celebs who have done the same

heartshapedpositnotes · 28/09/2018 16:29

Agree with posters saying he may have already had points and been facing a ban. If that was the case he had two choices 1. Fight it and get negative press or 2. Get a ban and be vilified. Lesser of two evils.

It's long been a mystery to me how DB manages to maintain the image of a thoroughly decent family man and philanthropist at the same time as being a serial philander and tax dodger . Now speeding in a 40 limit put there to protect children. Maybe that will be it, but I doubt it. that PR machine is a powerful thing.

Bestseller · 28/09/2018 16:36

I enjoyed the argument about the fashion industry up thread. I'm tone deaf and don't "get" music. I like a nice picture but am too much of a philistine to understand "art". I do however see enormous value in well cut good quality clothes (no idea if that's what VB makes though!)

Cantstopworryingaboutit · 28/09/2018 16:37

What.is the reference to a school teacher?

Bestseller · 28/09/2018 16:42

When they met, VB was by far the more successful and wealthier of the two. She doesn't need his money to support her business

Bestseller · 28/09/2018 16:44

There was a story about his affair with one of the kid's teachers some time ago Cantstop. I think the had a superinjunction but don't quote me on that.

SymphonyofShadows · 28/09/2018 16:52

You can't shag around so easily with a driver. One more person to blab.

I can't understand why they are still relevant. He was a very talented footballer but he's retired. She has coasted for years on the talent of others.

flopsyrabbit1 · 28/09/2018 17:01

oh who else has decided to have sex selection??

glintandglide · 28/09/2018 17:06

Apparently practically everyone with boy/ girl twins

heartshapedpositnotes · 28/09/2018 18:36

Rumoured Kim Kardashian with recent surrogate

glintandglide · 28/09/2018 18:39

Rumoured Khole too

Brahumbug · 28/09/2018 19:56

The police will happily prosecute you on a technicality, so you are entitled to the same standard of evidence. He got off because the police were incompetent.

ForalltheSaints · 28/09/2018 21:17

The loophole that allowed him to get away with speeding should be closed.

Hushnownobodycares · 28/09/2018 21:44

IIRC there were rumours way back when they'd used sex selection methods to acquire a girl in the USA where it's legal.

Pity the poor technician who had the dubious joy of dabbling in Goldenball's emissions Shock

HairyToity · 28/09/2018 22:52

I don't approve of gender selection being legal. I always feel uncomfortable with the children being part of the brand.

glintandglide · 29/09/2018 06:48

I agree with Brahumbug tbh. The police prosecute thousands and thousands of speeders a day, and none of us really know whether they’re doing it properly, we’re just rushed into it with the promise of reduced punishment if we admit it and agree quickly.

What I diagree with though, is that right to challenge should be the preserve of the very wealthy because I don’t imagine it can be particularly advanced legalese that got him off. Surely it’s the sort of thing Martin Lewis brought to the masses with private parking tickets?

Brahumbug · 29/09/2018 06:51

But it isn't a loophole, the police failed to follow the procedure laid down in law and as a result the prosecution failed, that is how it should be, we have to obey the law and so do the police. That is like saying that lack of evidence of a crime is a loophole stopping police prosecuting people. It is what protects us from corrupt and incompetent police.
