Flat earthers- how is this a thing?

So someone I know has been posting some articles on Facebook and it turns out she is a massive flat earther- completely convinced the earth isn't a sphere but a flat circle, no gravity, sun the same size as the moon etc. When we have clear evidence this isn't the case how can people be so sure they are right? I'm just totally baffled by it. How on earth can you reason with someone who is so deluded and claims or your facts are propaganda and that NASA have tricked us to keep us all feeling inferior!

@StorminaBcup ha. Quite!

Some people are stupid - it's hardly news! Couldn't take anyone seriously who believed in that crap.

Gerard170 · 20/09/2018 13:54

Because some people are very, very stupid and credulous. HTH.

Have you asked whether she believes in lizard people? I would be too harsh on her. Most people have one of two really stupid things they believe.

A colleague of mine believed this totally. And when I asked why he said (quite aggressively) that he had spent all that time looking into it and it proves that the Government is lying to us.

I don't think he was ready for me to piss myself laughing and say that of course the Government lies to us. That's what Governments do. They don't tell everyone everything.

And then I asked him why he spent so long researching whether the Earth is flat, when he could have been doing something worthwhile, like looking into something worthwhile, like helping starving children, etc.
