Poo explosion, could weep.

abacucat · 20/08/2018 12:16

Just dealt with a poo explosion in the bedroom and bathroom. Cleaned it up, got DP in bath, and brought towels, rug, etc that have been affected, downstairs to wash. Need to go back upstairs now to try and get stains out of bedroom carpet after googling solutions.
Supposed to be making lunch now for DP, but can't face it. I could cry.

Poor both of you. I know I felt humiliated needing help to go to the toilet when I was ill, so understand how awful your DP must feel, but at the same time I've been in a similar position to you having to do a big clear up.

You've had some good advice on here. If you're going out to get the prescription can you get some lunch or at least a coffee to give yourself a break? Being a carer is exhausting.

INeedNewShoes · 20/08/2018 12:59

Flowers for you OP. Awful situation to have to deal with.

There are some very childish responses on this thread.

MrsJonesAndMe · 20/08/2018 12:59

That sounds horrendous for you both. For those saying you couldn't deal with it - what would you like the OP to do? Get her seriously ill DP to do it himself or leave it?

You can get sheets that are disposable - big enough to cover a single bed in the nappy section - made by Pampers Dry Nites if that helps. Chemist might also have them.

theunsure · 20/08/2018 13:00

How awful for both of you. But good on you for looking after your poorly partner so well.

In time you'll be able to laugh about it - for now, do as the others have suggested in practical terms. Afterwards can you get a few mins to yourself to just have a scream or cry?
Then buy yourself a lovely treat for having to deal with it all and forego a holiday.

MargoLovebutter · 20/08/2018 13:03

adoggymama - how is that helpful? Are you saying, you would not help a seriously ill loved one in such a circumstance? My poor Dad had so many illnesses in the run up to his death & one of the issues he had was double incontinence but we all loved him enough, to get over our squeamishness and help him, in the way that we hoped someone would help us if ever we were unfortunate and ill enough to need it.

statetrooperstacey · 20/08/2018 13:06

I would try pet accident clean up stuff. It's designed to deal with odours and stains specifically from faeces and urine and isn't expensive. Good luck. 💐

Omg

abacucat · 20/08/2018 14:08

Thanks. Been to pharmacy and shop, sorted him out and now having a cup of tea. He is sleepy so hopefully he will sleep for a bit.

Also sprinkled bicarbonate of soda round. Hopefully can get stains out. I am opening some wine tonight. Can do with it. And yes, I have already said when this is all over, we have to do something extra nice to treat ourselves. I am sure we will laugh about this some day - just not yet.

Also just seen MN Trolls on Reddit are saying I am a troll. I really wish I was, sadly this is real. Been on MN for years. But NC a few days ago to post about caring for DP. Yes my DP is embarrassed and yes no one will ever know about this, in spite of this thread. Because it is anonymous. How would anyone ever guess who it was from details provided?
And no it was not on walls. And DP is not eating lunch. I went into automatic mode from tiredness, thinking I have to make lunch now. But of course as someone pointed out he needs to eat nothing at the moment.
He has just taken his strong painkillers and as they tend to cause constipation, they will help. Hopefully we wont have a repeat.

Ignore the trolls and nonsense on Reddit abacucat - you have enough to be dealing with at the moment, without worrying about what strangers with too much time on their hands think!

HolyMountain · 20/08/2018 14:19

I wouldn't worry about what they say on Reddit, you wouldn't want to meet any of that lot on a dark night Grin mad as cheese

DawnMumsnet · 20/08/2018 17:01

Hello,

We've had a few reports about this thread so we thought we'd hop on to say that the OP has indeed been a member of the site for years.

So (here comes the disclaimer) while we can never actually vouch for anyone on here or know if what they've posted is absolutely true, we've no reason to think she'd start posting shite after all this time.

FFS it's just poo. Everyone does it.

Have you got kids OP? Any chance you have a potty lying about? That way if need be he could maybe catch the worst if it happens again.

Sorry your holiday has been ruined! Both me and DH have had to clear up the other sick/poo/blood. It happens, it's not fun but you just deal with it, and well done you for venting here and not to him. Thanks

abacucat · 20/08/2018 19:50

Yes maybe seems an over reaction to you beautiful. But I am shattered, looking after DP myself, having to help him during the night. I go downstairs to make up some medication and get shouted up by DP who is wailing. He was in the bathroom with runny poo down his legs and all over the bathroom floor, rug and toilet and seat. Get him calmed down and he tells me apologetically there is stuff in the bedroom. I walk through and see trails and big splodges in a line to the door, from the bed. Would you really have shrugged it off as a bit of poo?

Why can’t it be real?!

FatCow2018 · 20/08/2018 19:56

Oh OP, I really really feel for you. Vent away my love, and ignore the tossers wirh their unhelpful "its gross" comments Wine

Fairylea · 20/08/2018 19:56

Why do people have to be so nasty? Not you op but troll hunters. Plenty of people with Crohn’s disease or bowel issues or other medical issues have to deal with this kind of thing all the time - it’s why people with those conditions often have blue badges because they literally can’t wait to get back to their car if they have an accident!

If you love someone and then these things happen, you deal with it the best you can. It’s not pleasant but life often isn’t.

I hope he is better soon op.

HoleyCoMoley · 20/08/2018 19:58

Can you keep a supply of his meds upstairs so you don't need to go downstairs in the night. Perhaps you could use a mattress cover wirh some inco pads on the bed and by the bed while he's unwell and I agree to a temporary commode might be good. Not all laxatives cause explosions, can the doctor or pharmacist recommend something a bit more gentle. If he is going to be like this for a few days maybe he would wear pull up incontinence pants which you can get anywhere. I do sympathise, I've seen some terrible tummy troubles and it is very upsetting.

misspops · 20/08/2018 20:03

Poor you and poor Dp.
I thought I had it tough having a long haired cat with a sensitive tummy !
Very used to cleaning up poo, wee and sick from carpets etc. You kinda become immune to it. Human poo is worse though. Hope you both feel ok soon

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 20/08/2018 20:05

I’m sorry you’ve both had to deal with this OP, it’s, excuse the pun, utterly bloody shit. You both have my sympathies

To those calling it disgusting or saying it’s not true. I hope to fuck you dont ever find yourself in his position...although you might learn empathy if it did...Ex-DP had crohns and unfortunately this happened a couple of times, twice in public whilst he had flare up. It wasn’t particularly pleasant to deal with but fuck me, it was 100x worse to be the one it happened to.
