Poo explosion, could weep.

abacucat · 20/08/2018 12:16

Just dealt with a poo explosion in the bedroom and bathroom. Cleaned it up, got DP in bath, and brought towels, rug, etc that have been affected, downstairs to wash. Need to go back upstairs now to try and get stains out of bedroom carpet after googling solutions.
Supposed to be making lunch now for DP, but can't face it. I could cry.

Thanks. His meds are kept upstairs, but some of it has to has to be mixed up with a measured amount of water. It is this I prepare downstairs.

OP my post wasn't aimed at you!! It was aimed at the people being rude to you and telling you it was disgusting!

tillytoodles1 · 20/08/2018 21:16

My H had explosive diarrhoea, and due to his MS, couldn't get to the toilet in time. I called the crisis team and they came in twice a day, washed him in the mornings and gave him adult nappies to wear, which they would change.

Maybugger · 20/08/2018 21:24

Sympathies OP, it's one of those situations where you don't know where to start, isn't it?
I suggest using pet cleaning stuff if soda bic doesn't work, I've used soda water too before now.

abacucat · 20/08/2018 21:25

Beautiful Apologies, I totally misunderstood.

No problem. I could have been clearer.

It's when you manage to get through things like this together that you realise how strong you are as a couple. We've had novo virus together with one bathroom- oh dear lord that was bloody horrific. Buckets, bath, etc. Awful. Bed sheets being stripped at various times of night due to bodily fluids. Sleeping in separate beds and both vomiting and having to check on the other too.

SeaToSki · 20/08/2018 21:34

Just fyi, massive diarrhea can mess up your electrolytes. You might want to rehydrate him with an electrolyte drink rather than just plain water. Sorry that I dont know the UK brands but Boots sell one.

Considering what this thread is about. Am I the only one who thinks Mumsnets comment was in bad taste ??

acatcalledjohn · 20/08/2018 23:42

Yes, because sometimes a bit of light relief is welcome. Normalise the shit, rather than make it feel like something shameful. Because it isn't.

Hope your DP feels better soon, OP, and that he doesn't feel embarrassed for long. It could have happened somewhere public, but instead it was at home and he has you. Small mercies.

You sound absolutely lovely.

Thanks and well wishes to you both.

HonkyWonkWoman · 20/08/2018 23:44

Yes! You're probably to only one comeherepetal!

DawnMumsnet · 20/08/2018 23:51

comeherepetal, you're completely right. Hadn't clocked quite how ill the OP's DP was when I posted otherwise I wouldn't have been so flippant. Sorry.

Flowers for you, abacucat - hope your DP is okay.

FatCow2018 · 21/08/2018 08:28

I hope you had a better night last night OP Brew

Knittedfairies · 21/08/2018 17:59

I’ve been thinking about you today OP. I hope your DP is feeling better, and you managed to get a decent night’s rest.

rwalker · 21/08/2018 18:05

abacucat · 21/08/2018 19:24

DP is taking much stronger painkillers from yesterday, so I only had to get up once in the night. Having a decent sleep makes everything seem a bit better.

FatCow2018 · 21/08/2018 19:48

Oh thats great news, I'm glad you got some rest OP

abacucat · 21/08/2018 19:54

Thank you so much

Glad you had a better night, you must have been shattered. If you think that this could happen again I would do whatever you can to minimise the cleaning up. You can get puppy pads (cheap in B and M) or disposable mattress protectors which you could put on the bed or on the floor.

abacucat · 22/08/2018 12:38

Thanks, will buy some puppy pads. DP is sleeping lots now the painkillers are working. Before he was waking at least every two hours all through the night and awake a lot of the day. So I have managed to sleep. Will take a while till he gets well again, but getting a decent sleep is bound to help him get better sooner, and makes everything easier to cope with. Apart from anything else, it was agonising hearing him moaning in pain.
