Colonoscopy advice please

I cant blinking believe it. I had a total abdo hysterectomy in June and just thinking about going back to work when a throw away comment about my poo to my gp has led to an urgent colonoscopy next week! I saw the consultant withing two days. I cant beieve it i feel fine. Im in shock he was so blunt with me. He said "your gp thinks you have cancer so you are here now" gave me a form and im waiting to hear from the clinic.

After the hysterectomy i was worried as im on my own but i coped really well. The clinic are telling me i cant get a taxi home on my own or be left on my own! I cant ask any of my friends they did enough last time.

Anyway, please tell me what its like? Theyve sent be a big box of something that i darent even look at.

Did they say why? Ive had samples sent for a type of colitis and he did say that it’s not inflamed enough for a ct scan. It’s hsllened very quickly thank goodness for the guidelines. Keep in touch and all the best xx

That's a good sign surely that it isn't too inflamed OP really happy you got through it okay and wishing you luck with biopsy results

Well they didn't get to complete the colonospy because it caused me too much pain, I'd rather give birth again than go through that! They said they were not happy with what they saw, nor my bloods nor my weight so need to do further investigations, including a lung CT scan? Strange?

Did you have the sedation? It only took the edge off. Sounds like they are going for it with you, its best to cover all bases did they seem worried? Are you feeling ok in yourself? Was it just a random visit to the GP? I hope you sleep well tonight. Im having a glass of wine. Keep intouch, i expect you will hear next week x

Are you sure its not a ct scan to check for an obstruction in your bowel? Did they take biopsies?

I think it's because they didn't get to finish the colonoscopy all the way round but don't get why they are doing a lung one too? Or why they said they weren't happy with what they saw? I was out of it though due to the sedation.

They didn't take any biopsies I don't think.

Went to GP due to IBS getting worse and blood in poop etc and my weight loss (look like a bloomin stick!)

How long till your samples are back?

I’m ok thanks. Did he give you a discharge letter with a diagram on it? I don’t know why your lungs comes into it is that what it says in the letter? Could you have misheard him? Thankfully you went when you did and you are in the best hands now. You will be sore with all the prodding about it should be better tomorrow. Good luck have you got someone to go with you fur the scan?

I had the same Twittle - couldn't get all the way round, so had a CT scan a couple of months later (which came back ok). No sedation for the colon CT scan so you can go on your own.

Mine's just preventative though, so can't help re lungs. Dad died of bowel cancer.

EachandEveryone yeah I got that letter, got knows what I've done with it now though! Oops. Does clearly say referred for CT scans including lungs and that they've taken blood samples. I'll ask my DH to come with me for the scan. Apparently it takes a few weeks for results of scans to get back? How are doing now? Any news from biopsy yet. Been thinking of you

No I only just got the biopsy results back from my hysterectomy after 10 weeks. Ive got some bloods next week. I had all those scans when I had a twisted ovary. Practice your deep breathing they can go on for awhile. I think you will get the scan results quite quickly so that’s one thing. What a blooming carry on.
