AMA worked in CAT A prison

I have seen a few AMA prison posts, but never by an operational member of staff.

I have worked both a CAT A and YOI - so have seen the worst of the worst.

No I don't, an utter waste of time!

Not to mention dangerous.

Offenders always seem uglier than your average person to me.

Yes, but usually with incredible double standards.

Go back to recruiting big tough men from the army, stop mis advertising the job, and stop getting females straight from uni.

Impossible to get rid of drugs.

No mobiles, no internet.

But still not worth the risk in lots of cases.

Were you given training in self defence OP?

Yes, and then refreshers yearly and 6 monthly in Youth estate

They will want to group assault Paedos - but if you check their alerts so many of them have been predatory even if it isn't their index offence.

Have you read Jeffrey Archer’s prison diaries? If so, do you think they are a fair description?
