Over the last few years I've got air conditioning installed in my modest detached house. We use it for heating aswell as cooling. AMA

No I gave you the figures for the actual consumption of my AC units. How much I spend on electricity for anything else in my house is not relevant in this conversation. Gas bill in June was £15. £8 of that was standing charge

I do think it's relative ...your figures still seem very low.

I just stayed in a hotel in London where the heating came out of the air conditioning unit. It was unbearable, either hot and stuffy or freezing cold.

I wouldn't be recommending the system if that was my experience

Would be the best money you've ever spent for her bedroom

I remember reading about domestic AC a few years ago on here and thinking how luxurious that sounded...we hit the bullet and got it in our bedroom, I'm surprised at how well it heats. New build so summers are just so stifling. May consider extending to other areas of the house in future, just wish the external units weren't so unsightly.

Yes I thought the same but couldn't live without bedroom AC now. They are a bit ugly but mine are hidden. I wish installers would refuse to install them where they are visible from the street

So you are saying your combined gas/electric bill is £20 in the summer and £210 in winter? That sounds extremely cheap for a 4 bed detached house in the midlands.

Standing charge alone is £15/month for gas and electric combined.

Edited

I'm in a 3 bed house and my gas and elec is less than 120 a month. I only use 2 (or occasionally 3) of the upstairs radiators though as it gets too hot otherwise.
