AMA!

And I will try, where I can, to name names.

I worked at a private airport.
My role was to assist in sorting their flights, crew for their jets, weather maps, and general day to day customer service when they would come to the terminal.

Worked FOR them, not with.

PossumintheHouse · 17/02/2024 20:18

Did you ever overhear an interesting comment?

LoftyAndWendyJoinTheCrew · 17/02/2024 20:19

@Meowandthen

The celebrities weren't paying my wages.

@ColleenDonaghy

Jenson button, who was probably the most lovely celeb I've ever met. Fascinating guy. And also Damon Hill, he was great too. Very professional, but very personable.

One of the people I know that knows Lewis has also met Jenson quite a few times. She says he is an arrogant prick.

She has been at charity events with both of them and says Lewis always stays far longer than he is expected to whereas Jenson spends very little time there and makes it seem like a chore. Lewis seems to be genuinely friendly whereas Jenson seems to be putting on an act

Totally agree. I’ve met lots of F1 drivers and was on the same flight home from Budapest, sitting across the aisle from Jenson and his girlfriend of the time. They were both massive knobs and really up themselves. Lewis is lovely. So was Damon Hill. Nikki Lauda (RIP) and Toto Wolff were also really nice. Christian and Geri Horner were complete knobs and so fake.

Xarrie · 17/02/2024 20:29

I've met Lewis numerous times through work and he's always been a total delight.

You were there to serve them, to assist them. So for, not with.

These are brief encounters, not working with or knowing someone. If you had, you wouldn’t be telling tales, albeit nothing of any substance here.

(And yes, I have worked with many slebs over the years. My role was to advise over time, based on a great deal of detail. I knew a lot of people and a lot of information but I wouldn’t divulge anything of importance.)

He is indeed a decent chap.

Everyone is allowed an off day. No one who sees another person in passing knows what is going on in their life.

Spencer0220 · 17/02/2024 20:34

What was the most interesting encounter you had? Did anyone ever say something to you that stuck with you and influenced a decision/changed your life?

I'm not talking about something grandiose.

Well, not really. I'm a teacher. I help and assist them all day long, but I don't work for my students.

Knitgoodwoman · 17/02/2024 20:35

I met one of Lewis Hamilton’s ex employees at a wedding. I couldn’t believe the things he told me. I’m really surprised more of it hasn’t made the media.

DH worked with William, he was really well thought of, worked hard, good operator, took the shit jobs with everyone else, took the piss out of himself.

Yeah I thought that was the generally accepted view, these days anyway. Like I said I could well believe a younger Lewis wasn't as pleasant.

As I'm sure you already know, I was pointing out that assisting someone isn't the same as working for them.

3luckystars · 17/02/2024 21:01

Did you meet Harry Styles? That’s all I care about.

Abouttimemum · 17/02/2024 21:04

Nightowl1234 · 17/02/2024 20:01

@Abouttimemum have you actually met Lewis to make such bold, nasty statements? Or do you just believe everything you read from the right wing media who have a track record for being less than kind about people of colour? I’ve actually met Lewis on more than one occasion and I can tell you he’s bloody lovely - an aura of calm, genuinely humble, friendly and really passionate about his charity work. Maybe think twice before you malign someone you’ve never actually met.

Yes I have, many, many times in many contexts and I stand by my statement, but you are entitled to your opinion. I honestly don’t know anyone who shares it, but you’re entitled to it.

I honestly don’t like your insinuation either, absolutely irrelevant.

I absolutely know you’re lying now. Anyone who’d met him “many, many times” would know the truth. And also your original post made it clear that your opinion was based on hearsay, not first hand experience. You’ve changed your story now you’ve been called out.

Yes, someone from the Chelsea football team. Couldn't tell you who it was though!

If it was Eden Hazard I'm going to be so jealous!

IfYouLikedItThenYou · 17/02/2024 21:18

If I wanted to find a boyfriend who had the sort of money to fly me from a private airport, where would you suggest I go/what should I do?

Were there any common threads you discerned amongst the celebrities in terms of character? (as in having observed them would you say that certain type of characteristics/behaviours are more likely to lead to celebrity than others)

Quite a few posters here have said Lewis is lovely and, as I said, I know a couple of people who know him or have met him more than once and they all say he is lovely

  1. She had police guards round the clock since childhood. It's absolute basic knowlege to never go with somebody trying to kidnap you (look up - "secondary crime scene") obviously somebody out on the streets with no support will natural panic/try & save themselves by keeping the situation calm but somebody well prepared should know better

  2. it was fergie/everyone who was compared to Diana & Diana was nowhere near as popular as people make out until she died

To quote a previous poster, you need to do your research if you are going to present information as factual. I didn't quite understand your point 1, but in your point 2 you are wrong. Before Fergie came on the scene, there were a lot of unfair comparisons between Diana and Anne. Anne undertook tours of places that were not particularly safe and supported (and continues to support) many so-called 'unglamorous' charities (and was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for this work). However, much of the press coverage in the 80s and 90s was about her abrupt manner and get-on-with-it attitude in comparison to Diana's much warmer persona. I also don't think you can claim she is work-shy as there is just so much evidence to the contrary.
