AMA!

And I will try, where I can, to name names.

OP posts:

I used to work in a celeb related role and all A listers were generally lovely and it was their entourage who were demanding and hard work, or Z listers who had something to prove. Did you find this?

Surprised Simon Cowell was a gent.

I don't know why.

A family member worked for a friend of his. He was apparently the nicest gentleman you could ask to meet. Especially when the person had no idea who he was!

Biggest twat was someone from made in Chelsea, who was notoriously hated at the time for treating women like shit.

Spencer Matthews then? A friend recently met him and said he was lovely. Hopefully he's changed his ways from the mic days and grown up a bit.

justasking111 · 17/02/2024 15:33

Did you get any cheap flights as a perk of the job? @LoftyAndWendyJoinTheCrew

I've met Princess Anne and although she was brusque, and didn't suffer fools gladly, I liked her.

OP did anyone ever hit on you?

lol this old bag whos never had to do a days work in her life & so lets face it... hasnt "doesnt suffer fool's" ?!? like is that just a fancy way of saying she doesnt put up with people who she feels wastes her time?/is beneath her?/isnt as smart as her

like seriously when has this woman ever had to actually deal with a 'fool' who wasnt put in front of her purely due to status (her own!) & circumstance (theres)

I worked at a private airport.
My role was to assist in sorting their flights, crew for their jets, weather maps, and general day to day customer service when they would come to the terminal.

I'm not being rude, but in that sort of position I'd assume there would be a minimal chance to get a really true idea of how someone is, unless you see them very regularly. When people (anyone) are travelling they're often not at their bet - they're not showing their true personality to whomever they come across who assists them. THey're often on a schedule, jetlagged or not feeling their best in some other way. Maybe they've had an argument with their spouse on the plane, or had bad news on the way, but have to put on a show for people when they get off as if everything is fine. I know myself that something that irks me customer service-wise when I'm feeling like that might on any other day not bother me and I'd brush problems off fine.

Having said that, Ill carry on RTFT and I'm sure will enjoy it but I'm going to guess that what I read about celebrities won't make me form any judgements about their true personality.

I could be lovely if I had an entourage running around catering to me!

StrugglingWithItAll123 · 17/02/2024 15:49

Did you ever meet Michael Jackson and if so what was he like? Also Tom Hanks?

OtherS · 17/02/2024 15:53

Did you meet any of the mega mega rich billionaires, or silicon valley types? Like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg etc - are they up themselves or just quiet and geeky?

Err, okay. I met her while she was working; I wouldn't fancy her job, even with all the perks. My comment was in relation to me getting a sense she wouldn't tolerate stupidity. But you rant away if it makes you feel better 😁

All I'm interested in is outrageous dressing room riders! I used to work at a venue sorting out performer dressing rooms and had some v.silly requests, if you've ever worked in this capacity would love to know if you've had any good ones?

We had a python on a rider once.

TheGander · 17/02/2024 16:31

I was once on an easyJet plane coming back from Marseille with viscount Linley ( Margaret’s son) on board. Just sitting there like any old civilian. I thought “ this is going to be interesting at baggage reclaim”. However, on arrival he was quickly ushered down a side corridor by a very officious looking woman who immediately put some kind of thick rope across the entrance to keep hoi polio out.

LovelyTheresa · 17/02/2024 16:31

Why do people bother with threads like these? Anyone could make up any old thing.

TheGander · 17/02/2024 16:34

As they could on any mumsnet thread about anything 🤔.

No offence but "doesnt tolerate stupidity" by somebody who's never had to live in the real world or work a proper job outside of her interests & family obligations doesn't really have great connotations though

She like everybody else would be forced to tolerate a great bloody deal of stupid people if she'd had to work her way up/buy her own house/sort out her own childcare/ deal with divorce/animals in her own time 🫠

TheGander · 17/02/2024 16:34

True, but I don't mean just on mumsnet. You see it everywhere, I worked with x&y and they were wonderful/awful/ugly/beautiful. It is one person's opinion, even if it is true. And any real 'tea' can usually not be shared for legal reasons.

IwishIcouldfinishabook · 17/02/2024 11:49

Thats what I was going to say! She always looks 1. rude and 2. like shed need a shedload of extra strength hairspray on

As far as I'm aware from reading lots of articles/news etc, people that deal with her at functions, meetings and the usual charity things find her delightful

She's always fully briefed on the event, knows who she's talking to and what about and can be charming and funny

Doesn't suffer fools but that's not unreasonable

WildFlowerBees · 17/02/2024 17:07

I don't really feel these threads are very fair, a lot of these people have flown long haul after working and the last thing they want is handlers and ground staff in their faces or paps. Handlers don't see as much of them as they'd have you believe. So it's a snapshot of who they might be not necessarily who they are.

Some FBOs are more discreet and even though no NDA was signed it's still nice to keep things to yourself.

Did you ever have any Spice Girls on board? In particular Baby Spice, I always wonder if she is genuinely as lovely and sincere in real life as she comes across on telly (I'm hoping she is)

I used to live near Baby Spice and she was awfully rude. Constantly scowling, shouting at anyone who walked anyone near her, particularly while she was chainsmoking outside the newsagents. She would come into a shop I worked in and we used to dread it.

tutttutt · 17/02/2024 17:15

@willWillSmithsmith give it a rest. Isn't life tough enough without people like you being nasty about people you don't even know. His knows what you are like to people you do know. Please be better.

I haven't worked with celebs but met someone who worked for a talent agency and she said much the same - the Z listers were the ones who were always demanding and whining about things.

I have a friend who is a Norland nanny for a very high net worth family and flies out of Farnborough frequently. It really is how the other half live.
