@mommatoone Ooh nice to know it's a bigger club than I thought! 🤣

No question … just to say I did your job for 10 years … it’s bloody hard , long hours , not flexible and in an industry where women struggle to progress (mainly due to childcare / long hours) … so glad I got our 4 years ago !

I pick the hard jobs!
Without giving too much away I've worked retail, emergency services, carer and call centre

Ex car sales executive here. Only female exec in the dealership. The amount of times I had females order from me and say it was so refreshing to have a female in the dealership - felt good!

Loved the job, miss it! Sadly not family friendly hours at the time.

OP- love this thread :)

I do think women get treated differently. I once had an intermittent fault with the defrost on one of my cars. The technician explained to me ( whilst talking very slowly and patiently) that I probably wasn’t pushing the button properly.

Do you think it’s sometimes ok to punch them in the face?

They usually do but I think as we are so female heavy, anyone caught treating a woman differently......
I will happily say "are you mansplaining to me?" but if you got treated differently and then asked to speak to a female, we are quite likely to bollock explain to the male staff member

I've had it happen, went to a garage and they tried to tell me there was nothing wrong with my fan belt. I pointed and said "so that's normal, yes?"
Begrudging apologies and I never went back and found a local guy who is excellent

I'm quite bolshy gobby as my boss would say which probably helps

I have a Suzuki Vitara, coming up for its service and MOT.

I've always gone to a Suzuki dealer, but my new home is about an hour from a Suzuki dealership. Is it best to travel and get an 'expert' service from a Suzuki dealer, or am I OK to go to a local independent service place?
