Are you part of a well known dealership?
What's your favourite car if money was no object and your favourite 'normal' car?

Fairly well known, well the cars are. Usually being ranted about on here Grin

Money no object I would have a pagani zonda
Normal car I actually really like the Kia Pro ceed

Are male and female customers treated differently by some staff particularly when explaining cause of fault etc?

Mumteedum · 21/02/2023 18:57

Is gap insurance and the warrantees they push worth it?

thisisasurvivor · 21/02/2023 19:02

Op is it a bad sign if a 2018 beautiful car has had 2 owners already?

Not with us, mostly because we have a mixed bunch of female/male staff and all ages. If you're not happy with your service advisor you can ask for another

Not necessarily
Someone could have taken advantage of the rise in price of second hand cars to sell it, or it was a lease car, lots of reasons

Tricky one but warranty usually yes. Think if your engine needed replacing or it broke down, cost of repair

This is helpful with gap insurance

Not a question, but I’d rather deal with a female salesperson. I find the car salesmen so sleezy. I’m sure a woman would be more factual.

BoJoSecretGF · 21/02/2023 20:45

I took my car in for a service today and reported a leaky tyre. They patched up the tyre as it was a repairable puncture and charged me £25. I checked the tyre pressure at the garage and then again after I got home and it had dropped 10psi already whereas the other tyres had maintained their psi levels. I will check the speed of the air leak tomorrow and see what the psi reading is.

a) can I claim a refund as the repair hasn’t worked
b) if I have to replace the tyre can I charge the cost to the garage?

If was originally a very slow leak and was fine if I topped the air up once a month.

I would definitely speak to them, they may refund you or ask you to bring it back in so they can have a look and see what's going on and replace for you

Are service plans worth buying?

Our female sales is lovely Smile she's also incredibly gorgeous which makes her popular!
Men are anything from 25-60 and a real mix of sort of sales types I guess

We do have people who request the same sales person or service advisor year after year. I've been dealing with one customer for 6 years who doesn't even include her car registration on emails now and I do all her organising for the cars for her

Are service plans worth buying?

Broad answer is yes

Longer answer - ask! I will always tell someone how much the next 4/5/6 services would be in total, then you can compare it to the service plan
Some services such as year 5 can be more expensive ones so it's worth working out the saving
I've known a service plan be £500 at the point of sale for 3 services and the first service alone without a plan was £450 so a huge saving

I've lost count of how many service desks I've spoken to in my time, but I would like to hear if you have any good stories.

My favourite was someone who accidentally loaded a report of a space ship breaking down while they were training onto the live system.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 21/02/2023 21:19

I hate pressure sales, don’t know why people think it’s effective.

earsup · 21/02/2023 21:21

I was basically ignored at the vw dealers a few years ago...wanted a van and could pay cash....actually received better customer service at poundland....do you judge customers and ignore them if you dont think they have the funds etc ?...I didnt buy in the end and left.

Someone forgot their dog was in the car. So we had a service dog for a while who was very happy wandering about getting cuddles and treats when the mechanic spotted the dog in the car

No, but I'm in service so I don't see much of the sales side
We have a reception who greets every single person and everyone is offered a cold or hot drink and whatever is the cake/biscuit/fruit of that day
If I have extra of something I've brought in, I'll often wander and offer it to customers so it might be Pringles or brownies!

Although if you want all the extra attention a cute dog/child/relative does help Grin

Aww that's adorable!!

How much discount do you get if you buy a car from your dealership? I remember a relative working for Renault a long time back and I think it was something like 12%!?!

This place had a reception with two women who also ignored me....busy on their phones and chatting.....no offer of any drinks etc....I had to leave the showroom and find someone in the car park to talk about the vans !!

Not much, I would have to check
We do have employee deals though where we can get a car for 6 or 12 months, pay monthly then hand it back and get another
Also standard finance deals but at preferential rates
I haven't checked for ages but the cheapest employee deal I saw was about £110 a month and that was a VW polo
The deals depend on which cars are available, I think they over purchased on Audis once as everyone was driving an Audi for a good 12 months!
