As the title says

OP posts:
Feminist10101 · 31/10/2020 10:42

at no point have I said i felt safe to ignore social distancing.

How else have you managed to catch it then? Seeing someone doesn’t require you to be less than 2m from them.

There are threads GALORE from people with Covid. A much richer resource than a AMA thread about one person’s experience.

This is nothing but attention seeking. As evidenced by your reaction to being called out.

I've posted this for people to ask questions that they would like to know from someone first hand that has covid as there are so many questions that people have, worry about etc. the press constantly sensationalize Covid, and only talk about the worse cases.

I’ve spent the vast majority of this year trying to keep 1500 staff (and as a knock on, thousands of the list vulnerable patients) safe and making sure they understand the best ways to be Covid safe. I’ve worked with clinicians and scientists to develop national guidance and probably now a bit more than you as a result.

That after more than 6 months of public advice, 6 weeks shielding and your mother working in a care home I’m amazed that you thought now would be the time to ignore it.

Toddlerteaplease · 31/10/2020 10:42

I'm not convinced by track and trace either. It took me an hour to input everywhere I'd been. Despite religiously scanning QR codes. I thought it would do it automatically.

MoonBaby1 · 31/10/2020 10:43

I’ve no idea why the op is getting such a hard time.

I hope you feel better soon Flowers

How does your chest feel? I’ve had a tight chest for a few weeks now but no cough. Haven’t had a test.

Are people blaming op for having COVID?

ElloElloEllo122 · 31/10/2020 10:44

@Toddlerteaplease I agree. I won't put where I work as will get shot down for that too because I dare to work when I was shielded initially 🙄

It also annoys me that home carers don't get tested as they go house to house with vulnerable people, but care home do.

My mum doesn't even work with the old people in her role at all

people can disagree with me, But you made a comment to make the person who called it the wrong thing look stupid. There is no need when I knew what they meant.

And I will reply when people are making assumptions about how I've caught covid. Millions of people have caught it, and all for different reasons I'm sure.[/quote]
It is a RESPIRATORY virus.

You need to be in close proximity to someone else who has it to catch it.

You’ve been told for months to keep your distance from others. All others. Unless absolutely necessary, in which case you should be wearing a mask, PPE.

So yes, your actions MUST have caused it.

(Unless you were immobile in a hospital bed and someone else brought it to you while you were were sleeping. But you haven’t indicated that is the case, have you?)

Jroseforever · 31/10/2020 10:45

Op

You’re not really sick and dying - hence many of the corona virus pitch forkers will descend on you. They’re only looking fir bad news and negative experiences.

Good luck

ElloElloEllo122 · 31/10/2020 10:47

@MoonBaby1 thank you. Can't believe I'm actually being blamed for why I have covid 🤣

I feel okay. Funny feeling in my mouth, right chest and breathless when I'm moving about, but fine when seated. My chest is tight when I'm led down too.

I have the worst pain in my back too, in between shoulder blades and lower back. I've heard from others that they too had bad back.

OP posts:
Feminist10101 · 31/10/2020 10:49

No skin off my nose that you have it. Let’s just hope you’ve not passed it on to others with your clearly lax attitude to social distancing/masks/hand cleaning.

housemdwaswrong · 31/10/2020 10:53

@feminist10101 a tad harsh. I'm being really careful, but sometimes real life gets in the way. I wouldn't for example leave a family member in distress under whatever circumstances. I'd take the relevant precautions like masks, but they are not a guarantee you won't catch it.

Toddlerteaplease · 31/10/2020 10:53

Me too. But I have not lost my sense of taste or smell and haven't had a temperature. The only symptom I had at the time I was tested was a headache, that I didn't assume was Covid.

Shopgirl1 · 31/10/2020 10:54

Feminist10101
Wow you are great
But not great enough to know how to spell “know”

Covid is a highly contagious virus. You seem to be focussed on blaming people. It can be caught on surfaces without going within 2m of anyone.

The thread was intended to help people. Your attack on the OP is completely unwarranted.

CoronaIsWatching · 31/10/2020 10:55

The vast majority of covid cases are symptomless

Masks make a massive difference (provided they are worn properly). Not possible to have an outbreak without SD being breached.

Which is why surfaces should be wiped down regularly.

Amazing that we have managed to have incidence of less than 0.01% in an NHS setting with some of the most vulnerable patients by stringently following this guidance, isn’t it? Must be total coincidence. Not science. Hmm

ElloElloEllo122 · 31/10/2020 10:57

@Jroseforever I know what you mean. I can't believe that people who have the virus are being blamed for having it 🙄

@Feminist10101i don't have a lac attitude. I wear a mask at all time, change it as needed if ever touched, on for more than 4 hours (surgical mask), my hands are raw from correct hand washing and sanitizing, I only go out to work and to do my shopping, I don't use a trolly or basket Incase it isn't clean correct, I work in a room by myself to enable me to distance correctly from colleagues and patients, I sanitize my whole work station before, during and after, I've not seen my family other than my mother, I've not hugged anyone, I've not been to a hairdresser or anything else deemed not complete essential, no one comes into my house, all deliveries are places outside and opened with gloves in and then sanitized...but I guess because i needed to see my mother for reasons i do not need to post here it's all my fault and I must be stupid and have no idea about social distance or PPE...

Such judgement from a post that was intended to help others who have questions as they don't know anyone with it, that isn't just the press putti g fear into people. You judge me all you want.

And I've been in full isolation from the moment I was told if the positive test from contract. I've left the house once to get my test and that's it!!!!

Ummmmm. Well done? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Feminist10101 · 31/10/2020 11:00

How did you catch it then, OP?

Feminist10101 · 31/10/2020 11:00

(Given it’s an AMA and all that. :))

Shopgirl1 · 31/10/2020 11:01

Feminist10101 Like I said, you are great.

MoonBaby1 · 31/10/2020 11:02

@Feminist10101 you are bizarre. Is this how you get your Saturday morning kicks?

tenlittlecygnets · 31/10/2020 11:03

Afaik, no cases have proven to come from touching an infected surface! None.

Ooh, don’t try bringing science into this. It has no place here. Hmm

ElloElloEllo122 · 31/10/2020 11:07

@housemdwaswrong thank you for understanding that there is sadly some situations that are taken out of our hands completely, no matter how careful we are. I won't put all over here why I had to be with my mother, but thank you for seeing that there are times where that persons welfare becomes the priority in a situation that is out of my control.

@Toddlerteaplease no I haven't yet either. I have had the awful headache too that even paracetamol doesn't help, and loss of appetite and upset stomach.
I've had a temperature on three occasions, but it doesn't stay elevated, I'm my oxygen levels dropped to 94 but have raised to 98 again now.

@CoronaIsWatching I think that's what makes it so scary. In the environment where I work we've had a lot of people that have had no symptoms at all. Some have only found out they had it through the antibody blood tests, so they don't even know when they had it. My mother is symptomless, and it was only caught through a chance weekly test.

@Feminist10101 I've answered already where I got it from.

@Feminist10101

@Feminist10101 Jeez what’s wrong with you, are you having a bad morning or something? 😂

OP ignore the oddball responses.... you’ve clearly been doing everything you can to avoid catching this. I hope you stay well. Do you live with someone who can keep an eye on you?

Feminist10101 · 31/10/2020 11:10

I didn’t ask where. I asked how.

Providing personal care?
Socialising?

You can’t put a thread up in AMA and then refuse to answer questions.

You’ve no other posts in this name. Nobody knows who you are out of the thousands of positive cases. So why not say how you managed to be close enough to someone at high risk of contracting it long enough to contract it?

Is it because you’ll prove me right?
