@TinkersRucksack

Did it affect any future relationships? Like, did you generally think less of men once you'd stopped?
Yes at the first sign that a guy was into strip clubs or could be into cam girls or similar I was off.

Which site did you use if you don’t mind me asking?

My husband used livejasmin a long time ago, and I was wanting to know if that was a porn chat or just a girlfriend chat thing like what you done. He used to also pay for the private chats which cost a lot of money. The credits were bought in amounts of £33.99, sometimes there was 1 transaction at a time, or sometimes 3.

When I found out I never once felt anger towards the woman on the chat, she was only making a living at the end of the day. I was jealous she probably had a nice body though!

@Eeeeeeeok

How do you feel about it from a feminist perspective? I feel genuinely conflicted. I really have no judgement for you when I say this... On one hand I feel women should be able to do what they want with their bodies. On the other hand regarding cam girls, porn, strippers and other sex work I sort of feel like it's giving men what they want. It supports their view of women as objects and therfore the patriarchy. But then there was patriarchy way before we had so much porn. So yes I'm bot sure what my view is but would be really interested to know what you think about this.

Also did you get quick at typing? Grin

When we don't have enough money to pay our bills and feed ourselves, we simply cannot afford to see it from a feminist perspective. Feminist perspective doesn't come into it when we need to eat and pay the rent.

The government introduced a two child policy where benefits (affecting mothers of all circs - out of work, in work, disabled mothers) are only paid for the first two children. Barely an eyebrow raised.

Not having a go at you, genuinely, and don't wish to speak for OP, but many of us who resort / resorted to cam work cannot afford to think of what it means in terms of feminist perspective.

I can't understand why there is huge discussion about prostitution / camming and so little about why so many women are in poverty in this country.

I used adultwork only. But I imagine there are a mix of girls on all these sites. Some will be tame, others hardcore. You'd really have to look up the description of the girl involved

Feminism , at least the main type of MN, of about structural analysis, not about criticising women for doing what they need to get by or are rewarded for in our society.

The idea that any woman (or man) would need to turn to sex work to make money is just grim. With the universal benefit there were loads of stories about women turning to sex work including proposition to feed their kids etc. Appalling.

I also don't see what's wrong with making more money if you can in a system that is stacked against you and who sees looks and youth as the most important thing in women.

What I don't like is this whole it's great, empowering, let's normalise it, men who use these services should face no sigma etc etc. No sod that.

This is a really interesting thread op thank you for posting. I'm also surprised that you got paid when you weren't doing any actual sex stuff but you learn something every day I suppose.

I'm glad you got out of it & were able to get out of it when you realised it was harming you.

Agreed!! Yep I got paid well for not doing sex acts but I built up regulars. The girls who did sex acts had multiple people in their chat rooms, I only ever had one at a time, so I had to keep them chatting. Like I said, I attracted men who were missing something emotionally and wanted, above all, companionship

What if nobody come online or was there always someone online?
How did you get the men to spend

Not going to lie I want to get into this

I dont know how busy the sites are now. Yes there would be nights when hardly anyone was online and I'd only make £40 ish despite sitting there for hours. Because I was just chatting I put in a lot of hours to make money and had to make the conversation good to keep them online. I attracted people who wanted to talk. I imagine the girls who did sex acts probably made their money quicker as they had multiple people in their rooms but I didn't want to do that. But then you've got lots of competition too. I only knew of one other girl doing a girlfriend experience and we weren't always online at the same time.

So I wouldn't say it's easy money, you still need to work for it! I was online for hours. Part of the reason I didnt have my mike on was so I could watch tv at the same time. I remember one guy worrying I was being trafficked because my eyes kept flicking to the side and he thought I was being directed. I had to fess up that I was watching family guy in the background 😂😂

How can you chat when they can’t hear you?

They have a text chat function

Remember a lot of guys were contacting me secretly. I has people contact me from their desks at work, from their bathrooms or spare bedrooms, so it often suited them just to text and not have any actual talking

You mentioned you are married. Does your partner know?

RonaldMcDonaldio · 01/08/2020 07:44

Presumably you didn't have to type - was it a voice to text function?!

I'm fascinated that sex work exists where you just have to pretend to be a girlfriend, and at worst pull a sultry smile and look delighted if they want to knock one out while talking to you! Even though you didn't do sex acts did you have to be suggestive?

No I actually sat there typing! Sometimes the guys would talk but most of the time they were typing too. Yeah I would be suggestive. So it was like sexting. Although with most guys it turned into normal conversation. Generally after I asked if they were single they'd start spilling their entire lives. As soon as they did that, I knew I had them hooked and more often than not, they would become regulars. Only a few guys would actually masturbate, and normally just during our first chat. I think if they just wanted that, they would have chosen another girl to chat to. It was surprising how many men just wanted someone to talk to .

Hi, sorry I'm late to the party, I must've been busy when this was posted, and I've got so many questions! What happens if a guy falls asleep during a chat and leaves the line connected? Is it possible that he could get charged for the entire night (you don't sound like you'd do that, but with a less scrupulous person?) And how do they pay....is it debit/credit card? And how much do they typically pay (assuming it's per minute)
