I train to high/high intensity minimum 6 days a week, across 9 sessions. I've done many extreme events. Will move meetings at work/social events to train. AMA ?

OK, something I've always wondered - do you not find it boring?
Every time I've tried to do gym/running/swimming, I find every second seems to be an hour and all I can think of is that various things hurt and there's nothing to mentally DO.
How on earth do you do it for hours and still think "wow, ca't wait to do this again tomorrow and every day for the rest of my life!"

sub20min5km · 22/08/2019 13:12

You become addicted to the mental battle. There is a very famous runner who states 'running is a battle between the part of your brain that wants you to stop and the part that wants you to keep going'

How do you eat enough calories to stay a healthy weight ?

sub20min5km · 22/08/2019 13:30

It depends sometimes I strip body fat therefore eat 1200 calories daily. Training burns minimum 500/600. Those periods are hard so you jack up on caffeine/sugar. But day to day, you eat normally. Standard diet is ..
Yoghurt bowl
Fruit snack/boiled egg
Turkey mince spinach Buddha bowl
Teaspoon peanut butter and veg
Chicken and veg/zoodles.
Berries/watermelon.
Black tea/coffee/water
Drink on weekends but white wine/ gin slim tonic etc.

How do you have time for anything else? Do you have kids?

YesItsMeIDontCare · 22/08/2019 13:31

How do you find the time?

VivaLeBeaver · 22/08/2019 13:33

How do you stay injury free?

I do 12 classes a week and cycle over 100 miles a week and have a stress fracture in my leg which isn’t healing. But apart from 2 weeks with a plaster cast I’ve carried on exercising so even a broken leg hasn’t stopped me!

sub20min5km · 22/08/2019 13:34

Yes, I do.
I train at lunch or before work.
Work full time in white collar construction DH is the same. 40/60 hrs per week Get up at 6am on Saturday to run then to the gym. Rest Sunday.
Run a house, no help.DH works full time often abroad. Take DC to the gym, if DH can't help.

would you say you're self-obsessed?

pinkmagic1 · 22/08/2019 13:40

Do you ever feel like you are missing out doing other things when you spend so much time excersising? Do you feel you have an issue?

SurfnTerfFantasticmissfoxy · 22/08/2019 13:40

What's your physique like?

pepperpot99 · 22/08/2019 13:43

In a way I admire your dedication, but I can't believe you have time for friends, fun, general indulgent enjoyment. Do you want your DC to be as obsessed as you and your DP are?

beccarocksbaby · 22/08/2019 13:46

Do you genuinely feel this level of obsession isn't bordering on an eating disorder?

jay55 · 22/08/2019 13:46

Do you worry about overuse injuries and future arthritis?

Julesni77 · 22/08/2019 13:51

Do you also weight train at all?

sub20min5km · 22/08/2019 13:54

Don't feel like I'm missing out, hold down a high profile role in construction. DH and I have a great relationship and feel great that i'm setting a good example to DC. Last weekend had a massive boozy day with BF, but still got up at 6 to run, granted it wasn't a pb.
I'm between high teen and low twenty % body fat. So have abs when dehydrated enough. Size 8/10. Lean muscle. 58/62kg. I'm 38. Still curvy but look strong, not bulky.

Are your children old enough to do gym stuff at the same time as you?
Do your children not have after school activities ?

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 22/08/2019 13:58

Which extreme event did you enjoy the most and why?

sub20min5km · 22/08/2019 13:59

Tough mudder, ended up in the promo vid !! 20 km of utter hell.

OP posts:
sub20min5km · 22/08/2019 14:01

DC play football - DH is a coach.
If at gym kids take iPad or join in.
Parkrun kids come - regardless of tears.
Swimming club, I train or go running
