I still hear so many daft claims about certain aspects of living in KSA. Happy to confirm or deny what you've been told!

Yet this is what I actually posted. And she has the balls to call ME disingenuous Confused.

I live in Saudi Arabia. AMA!
Shmithecat2 · 30/04/2019 18:24

@justrestinginmybankaccount unless the guy your DP works with has significant wasta (influence), as genuine as I believe the invitation is (you would be spoilt rotten, the Saudis I know LOVE to host) it won't get past the Visa application... once your DP had his Visa, you would then have to produce a marriage certificate for you and birth certificates for the children. I'm not saying it will never happen, but some serious backhanders or authority would be needed to get the visit Visa approved. But if it was, once you're in, you're in!

Shmithecat2 · 30/04/2019 18:27

@LimeKiwi if we were still here for any reason when ds was old enough to know his sexuality, then yes. But, in all honesty, I know we won't still be here when he has got a clue about it, so it's a bit of a non question to me.

Windowsareforcheaters · 30/04/2019 18:37

then I'll be telling them how to behave to avoid such arrests, so, yes, because we want to earn loadsa money and escape tax, we will even shut down our DCs right to be gay and rthem being stoned to death, should their behaviour 'slip', but its fine to live their lives in fear of that

The above is what smother said

The gay people I have met in Saudi haven't been whipped... your blanket statement of 'if you're gay you will be whipped' is just not true. If my son turns out to be gay and we're still living here (highly unlikely, but still), then I'll be telling them how to behave to avoid such arrests. All I can do

This is @Shmithecat2 post from 11:58 yesterday.

I'm not sure what the issue is. Smother does paraphrase but the gist of the OP's post is that she would teach her son how to behave as if he was not gay. That's how I read it - tell me if you think I am wrong.

I hope not many people in the U.K. would think it was a good idea to teach your gay son to hide who they are and to live in a country where they need to avoid arrest.

I think gay people in Saudi do live in fear - correct me if you think I and Smother are wrong.

Shmithecat2 · 30/04/2019 18:42

And I knew that is exactly the response you would give @Windowsareforcheaters. Smotheroffive lied. But that's okay with you because it suits your agenda. Fucking hell, you might think I'm the lowest of the low but at least I'm honest.

LimeKiwi · 30/04/2019 18:48

That's exactly how I read it too.

I'm definitely one who doesn't, sounds to me a hideous way to have to live.

Smotheroffive lied. But that's okay with you because it suits your agenda
Confused how did she lie? Yes, she paraphrased it a bit, but you did say that you'd teach them how to behave hide to resist arrest. Oh, and agenda? No agenda from me, just boring SAHM curious about living there hence the questions.

Shmithecat2 · 30/04/2019 18:54

She lied because she said that she had cut and pasted my comment. Bare faced lie. If she had said she was paraphrasing, I would have no issue at all.

Windowsareforcheaters · 30/04/2019 19:10

OP I read it as a paraphrase as it does sum up what you said quite well but you are correct technically it is not a cut and paste.

I have asked several times for you to comment on the quote below that you made directly to me

But you can't leave it there can you? Do you think by continually repeating and bleating on about what your seemingly paranoid and very overactive imagination conjures up

Do you think I and others are making up the human rights abuses in the KSA?

Shmithecat2 · 30/04/2019 19:22

@Windowsareforcheaters

Paraphrasing is fine. Telling me that it was what I typed when it wasn't is not, going as far to say it was cut and pasted is not. I guess lying isn't below your ethics and morals if it suits you. Nice.

Do you think I and others are making up the human rights abuses in the KSA?

No. But imagining someone is being tortured in every police station your drive past or wondering if someone you socialise with is actually an executioner is just ridiculous. Are you generally an anxious person who catastrophizes?

justrestinginmybankaccount · 30/04/2019 19:25

Shmithecat2 as I was typing out my post to you I was actually figuring it out... sure the visa..? 😁

DP is so private. Calls me his wife etc and our stays is nobody’s business. But I suspected it would be Wink. I wouldn’t even want to push it. Thanks for your reply 👍

Another question: what is the social response to children out of marriage? Do you ever see it in society? Is it like Ireland 50 years ago? (I’m Irish btw so I can say that!)

LimeKiwi · 30/04/2019 19:29

No. But imagining someone is being tortured in every police station your drive past or wondering if someone you socialise with is actually an executioner is just ridiculous

Not aimed at me, but I didn't read it like that. It read to me that the poster was saying that every time they drove past a police station, they'd be wondering what was happening behind the doors, or the bit about the square they'd be imagining what happened there and what happens if people get tortured there.
"Chop Chop Square?" Never heard of that and sounds utterly horrific. Maybe you can tune out and pretend nothing happens there (out of sight, out of mind, maybe?) but I'm with the posters saying "nope, not a chance" and imagining what goes on there.

Windowsareforcheaters · 30/04/2019 19:36

In the first 3 months of this year 43 people were executed.

On one day in April 2019 37 people were executed.

Most of these people (all?) were imprisoned, tortured and denied due process. Someone must have carried out these activities you may know them, they may well be very pleasant when they are not torturing people.

If I lived in a country where this was happening it would worry and concern me, I would wonder where it went on and who did it.

I would not be a "generally an anxious person who catastrophizes?" I would be someone concerned about the current events in the country I lived in.

I find it amazing you live in a country where this happens and appear to give it not more than a cursory thought.

Shmithecat2 · 30/04/2019 19:37

Nope, don't see it at all, relations before or outside marriage is strictly forbidden.

Shmithecat2 · 30/04/2019 19:45

@Limekiwi

When I drive past that police station who is being tortured inside?

This is EXACTLY what Windows wrote. Not 'is' someone being tortured inside but WHO. I like to reply to peoples post as the write them, not paraphrase to build my case. Its rather rude and very disingenuous. Not conducive to decent debate.

It's a fairly common nickname for Deera Square. Surprised you've never heard of it tbh if you're so into what's bad about Saudi. Yes, I'm quite aware of your stance on it. Thanks though.

LimeKiwi · 30/04/2019 19:51

For goodness sake, I'm not paraphrasing you or anyone. Just saying that's how I read the post, and how I'd be thinking!

Loopytiles · 30/04/2019 19:55

Treatment of gay people is “a bit of a non question to me“ because you’re planning to have left SA your DS reaches puberty.

He’ll be right then, never mind anyone else eh.

LimeKiwi · 30/04/2019 19:56

As I said, I've never been there, and I'm interested in what it's like to live there. I'm not so into what's bad about Saudi at all. Just asking questions that interest me. It's AMA.
As in ask me anything, right?
Or do you only want questions like "what factor sun cream do you use" or "what are the shops like for shiny things?"

Shopping bores the heck out of me and I'm not a hot weather person so that's why I haven't answered much along those lines.

LimeKiwi · 30/04/2019 19:57

asked, even, not answered

Sheogorath · 30/04/2019 19:58

All I can do, if I were to have a dd, is my very best to ensure that she never gets into any kind of scenario that would potentially end that dreadfully. Yeah, because it's that easy to just prevent rape. Especially in a country where natural rape is legal.

Windowsareforcheaters · 30/04/2019 21:00

Does it make a difference 'who' is being tortured or if they do the torture in a slightly different location?

I think the key issue is in a location near where I live, by people who I might meet and socialise with, someone is being tortured.

I appreciate semantics and detail matter very much to some people but in this instance surely the bigger issue is that an individual, a human being is being subject to degrading and inhuman treatment.

I would wonder if that particular police station was being used to torture people, and if not where did it happen. When I read in the international press that 37 people were beheaded it would concern and distress me.

I asked some posts ago if some posters genuinely believed there was a moral equivalence between actions of the U.K. and those of the KSA, no one has answered. I would be interested if anyone cares to answer.

Windowsareforcheaters · 30/04/2019 21:03

If I have insulted you personally, quote it and we can discuss it. I would rather we didn't resort to personal insults though.

Well, considering she was asking me and it's my AMA, what you're thinking about it was isn't really relevant.

But passive aggressive snidey comments about my morala, ethics and parenting is ok? Whatever.

Hmm I only mentioned what it read like as you were accusing people of lying when they were basically saying the exact thing you were saying.
You didn't seem to understand what people were trying to say so I was trying to make it easier.

LimeKiwi · 30/04/2019 21:45

Oh, and I haven't personally insulted you either, and haven't seen anyone else - if I see any on the thread though I'll report them as that's not on if anyone has.
