I’m a wedding planner (however I’ve currently left the wedding world to make babies) - ask me anything!

What is the right thing to do regarding children and weddings?

@camelfinger ooooh, now this is a very interesting question! You will hate my answer, but there is no right or wrong answer here.

I think there is nothing wrong with saying no children - they can be disruptive, noisy, and can stop the parents being able to let their hair down!

However, I think children can really add to a wedding! You just have to make sure you cater for them, and not just with the food. Keep them entertained, provide goody bags at the table for them, expect them to get bored during speeches and perhaps arrange some entertainment for them in another room during the speeches. Keep them involved so they don’t get bored. Give them special (but not important!) jobs for the day - I had one wedding who have one of the young girls the very important job of making sure grandad stayed awake during the day 🤣! She hardly left grandads side and felt terribly important all day! She was as good as gold.

Have you ever seen a bride in her dress and though 'ugh' and have you seen a bride and though what a wonderful dress, and if so what was it like?

tootsieglitterballs · 20/07/2018 21:04

@Todamhottoday yes on both accounts!

I’ve seen some truly stunning dresses, every one different!

And some absolutely hideous ones 🤣

Do you ever wish couples did something really different? I used to work in weddings a bit and I found they were so samey after a while, no-one ever did anything that different.
