I’m a random person on the Internet - ask me anything

Since ask me anything appears to be the theme of the week on MN... Grin

I give no guarantees that I will be able to answer the questions, but if you’ve got a question and you think some random internet person is the person to answer it: fire away.

Disclaimer: this is not about any specific thread; just a tongue in cheek response to a general trend.

What is the meaning of life?

InDubiousBattle · 04/07/2018 16:12

How's your day been?

TheBlackSheepReturns · 04/07/2018 16:16

Would it bother you if your unsupervised from afar 6 year old scaled a metal fence surrounding a sports field and climbed into a tree to get down on the other side to retrieve a frisbee?

cornishmumtobe · 04/07/2018 16:16

What shall we have for our pre-football BBQ on Saturday? 2 veggies and 2 meat eaters.

UnimaginativeUsername · 04/07/2018 16:16

How's your day been?

This is the kind of question I can definitely tackle! Crap mostly. I got a puncture (due to my own stupidity) and had to call a breakdown service and then take it to the garage. Joy. While there I had the other front tire replaced and the brake pads done too. £213 later at least the car is in better shape than it was.

What is the meaning of life?

I had a (slightly odd) chemistry teacher at high school who spent several lessons banging on about her theory that the meaning of life is that ice is less dense than water. So maybe she was right.

I think I’d mostly be impressed at the 6 year old’s resourcefulness and climbing skills. And their dedication to retrieving the frisbee.

Hello random person. What did you have for breakfast?

Hmmm so my gin and tonic on crushed ice is the font of all knowledge. GrinGin

Ah good. Wasn't sure if it came under the label "bad parent". Thank you. I wish you a pleasant evening.

I’m hoping this one doesn’t require actual clairvoyant skills.

If it were my BBQ, I’d do beef bulgogi (with lettuce leaves to serve) and yakitori chicken on the barbecue, and serve them with cold rice noodles dressed with sesame oil and a big bowl of salad (something that might be loosely described as an Asian slaw type affair). For the veggies (and the non-veggies) I’d do chargrilled miso aubergine slices (and possibly a quorn version of the yakitori, especially if there were veggie kids involved). I’d also use gluten free tamari rather than soy sauce to make it (because DS2 has coeliac disease).

And a big exotic fruits pavlova for pudding.

Do you do your grocery shopping online?

UnimaginativeUsername · 04/07/2018 16:28

What did you have for breakfast?

I had to wait in a cafe for the AA and it was a hipstery paleo place, so I had sweet potato hash with poached egg and assorted greens. Usually I’d just not have eaten breakfast, so you asked on the right day for me to look like I have one of those lovely, healthy diets.

Not in my book it doesn’t. Congratulate yourself on having an excellent 6 year old.

How did you come up with your username?

UnimaginativeUsername · 04/07/2018 16:30

Do you do your grocery shopping online?

Yes. From Sainsbury’s.

I was out when they delivered yesterday so DS1 accepted some crap substitutions. I only have myself to blame.

How did you come up with your username?

Through weeks of intense deliberation. And then I realised I’d just go totally descriptive.

There’s someone else who has one upped me with UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername. It could start an arms race, until we run out of characters.

According to my chemistry teacher at least. Although, in hindsight, she may have been drinking gin secretly in the cupboard before pontificating to her higher class on the meaning of life.

Do you like wine? If so what's your favourite red and white?

cornishmumtobe · 04/07/2018 18:58

Also - cold rice noodles and sesame oil - why have I never tried this before?!

Crumblevision · 04/07/2018 19:04

What's your shoe size OP?

UnimaginativeUsername · 04/07/2018 20:43

Do you like wine? If so what's your favourite red and white?

Yes. Of course I like wine. Grin I’m less keen on red, tbh, and don’t really have a favourite (mostly I like something that doesn’t taste of wood). My favourite white wine is either a dry Riesling or a Torrontes.

I will, however, drink anything available at work events!

What's your shoe size OP?

A 4 (37).

It varies a bit depending on the shoes. It can be anywhere between a 3 and a 4.5.

I suspect this is technically a question. Grin

Probably because rice noodles are rarely the first thing we think of in this country. The thin ones are lovely with sesame oil (and some spring onion too). You can eat them hot or cold. It has the added advantage of being very quick to make.
