'This year’s program lists a lactation consultant called Jacob Engelsman speaking on “communicating inclusively: creating gender-affirming clinical spaces for families” and “lactation support for gender-diverse families”.'

'Jacob Engelsman is a Certified Lactation Consultant based in the US. He describes himself as an infant care specialist, speaker, and writer. He is the author of a recently published book, Lactation for the Rest of Us: A Guide for Queer and Trans Parents and Helpers, and specialises in inducing lactation in non-gestational parents (parents who haven’t given birth). “Lactation is for anyone” Jacob tells us in this podcast interview.
Engelsman’s interest and expertise is not limited to lactation for the purpose of feeding an infant. One of his previous presentations was “Inducing Lactation for Kinksters” and according to his CV he has been giving various talks including on lactation at Frolicon, an adult lifestyle and fetish convention held annually in Atlanta, Georgia with substantial programming around kink, BDSM, sexuality, polyamory, LGBTQ+ relationships and alternative sexual/family cultures.
He is not a nurse, midwife, doctor, or healthcare professional (nor does he claim to be). He is not a parent or someone with personal experience of breastfeeding. He got his certification five years ago and prior to that worked in the food service industry.'
...
'Why would a man want to lactate? In Engelsman’s own words:
“There are several reasons a person may choose to lactate regardless of whether they can gestate a child…a non-gestational parent might choose to induce lactation as a way to feel emotionally closer to the baby, assert their own feelings of parenthood, gender euphoria, or just for the unique experience of it.” (p.49)
Writing specifically about “cis” men, that is men who identify as men, he says:
“As to the question of why they would want to, it seems reasonable to believe that cis men want to lactate for the same reasons as anyone else. Which is to say, usually to feed and bond with their baby and to a lesser extent for curiosity, fun, or sexual gratification.” (p.152)'

Where Does Male Lactation Fit in Breastfeeding Support Networks? — Genspect

'Evidence for use of domperidone to augment lactation is not compelling. In 2015, a systematic review identified four relevant randomised controlled trials.2 These studies did show that domperidone increases milk production; however, in only one very small study was the infant actually fed on the breast (the rest measured expressed milk) and two trials recruited only preterm infants. There is currently no evidence that use of domperidone improves breastfeeding outcomes.
Use of domperidone for lactation is off licence and not without risk. In April 2014, the European Medicines Agency issued a warning about its use, highlighting serious, but rare, adverse effects including prolongation of the QT interval, arrhythmias, and sudden cardiac death.3 These risks need to be balanced against the fact that not prescribing domperidone could lead to the unintentional loss of the significant benefits of breastfeeding to mother and child.'

Aside from the horrific implications of the original post, which I really don't want to go into more than other posters have already...

Domperidone is a really nasty, strong drug, as many of us will know. I was put on domperidone, along with a cocktail of other drugs, during cancer treatment, to try to keep me from vomiting constantly. I had to come off it pretty quickly because I was suffering from anxiety, restlessness (literally could not sit still at all and could not sleep), paranoia, and hallucinations.

This is not a drug that should be anywhere near an infant!

To reiterate: horrific, from start to finish.

Good to see a bit of media coverage.

There's far too much quietude on all this in Ireland.

Even money this man's appearance gets pulled.

INeedAPensieve · 28/08/2026 11:18

Jesus. In plain sight as they say. I was horrified by the scot gov funded thread to help the "queer milk" charity but this is also awful. The brass neck of that man! I mean, anyone advocating for men to give a cocktail of dodgy drugs to babies for "sexual gratification' (in his own words he used that) is clearly not a good person. Paedophilia promotion at a breastfeeding conference. Insane.

nicepotoftea · 28/08/2026 11:22

If nothing else, this man's CV makes it clear that this kink exists, and that lactation consultants should be wary.

'Lactation for the Rest of Us' should ring alarm bells. Lactation is for the baby.

The good women (and some men) of early 70s Britain put the kibosh on PIE, and the Harriet Harman inspired support of its aims.
This man and his aims feels no different tbh to those ones from 50+ years ago.
If anything, PIE were more malleable in their public statements, this guy is saying the taboo thing out loud.
Sexual gratification/breast feeding for all (men).
Genuine Q...better for the cause if he turns up to give his talk, and the good women in the audience barrack his sorry arse back to the US, or that public pressure forces the organisers to rescind his invite?

DrBlackbird · 28/08/2026 11:40

When you think that the world cannot get any crazier, when you hope that regular reasonably intelligent people are starting to understand there needs to be limits to ‘inclusion’, something like this comes alone. Then I realise the craziness is far from over.

A bloke is pushing male ‘lactation’ for sexual kicks – and yes, we’re paying for it
by Brenda Power
Finally a mainstream newspaper is taking this up. Irish Daily Mail, but it's a start. I have liked and shared this post as she has tagged two government ministers. I think they may be less inclined to ignore if they see the story is gaining traction.

Don't actually think it matters.

The evidence is all there, in plain sight, spelled out clearly.

I guess so long as no TRAs get wind of it and make a fuss about excluding him. But I suspect not many of the Right Side of History supporters are prepared to go as far as supporting this.

Where's that journo that was so harsh on women's rights recently?

OP posts:
MarcTheGenderSkeptic · 28/08/2026 12:02

I read a fantastic blog a few years back, that really revealed the Trans Rights Activism = Men's Rights Activism truth, and that the alpha males of the old school Labour left who ignored, or at best tolerated women's rights only so far as they helped further the rights of organized labour and the oversize men's role in those institutions, have now been replaced by the post-liberal/post-class war left beta males, males that ostensibly support women's rights (first out there to attack Trump on abortion rights), but only as cover for furthering men's rights in a world where trans rights and TRA demands are made good.
That's why a beta male like this can ostensibly be an "ally" to women in the area of lactation policy (fighting for greater funding, against the right on screwing women's opportunities), but it's a pure front for the fun and sexual gratification of men (his own fucking words).
The dominance of beta males on the left, and their unholy alliance with that section of women, the trans maidens, who will walk over broken glass to support men in women's spaces, is, like those Green LGBTQs making electoral alliances with Islamists, some of the greatest warps caving in the walls and floors of the liberal settlement.

I did provide the link to this thread for one of the regular advocates for men's rights but notice they've been surprisingly absent? Far too much inconvenient evidence no doubt. 🙄

Do we recall the furore a few years back of that TIM being interviewed on ITV News about how the cost of living was negatively affecting women, he claimed he was as a woman struggling with the weekly shop, and in the background were breast milk devices, on further investigation he was an advocate for men chest-feeding (sorry, I can't write men breast-feeding with a straight face).
When MNers joined the fray to denounce this, the usual suspects came out to support his trans rights to chest-feed his baby.
There was even a petition signed by hundreds of prominent Labour MPs, union officials, third sector types, in support of him and this practice
Have things changed since then?

He is giving a talk on both days - were they short of speakers?

If the goal is helping gender diverse families, why are they inviting somebody whose expertise seems to be inducing lactation in people who haven't given birth when it seems far more likely that they will be asked to help the mother?

FoodieDench · 28/08/2026 12:42

"...or just for the unique experience of it."

Since when is lactation unique? Almost half of all mammals on the planet have experienced it, aka the female ones!

I would add also that no one should be allowed to have a "unique experience" at the expense of someone else's health, safety, rights, or dignity, and certainly not at the expense of an infant's needs and right not to be abused. Babies have no agency.

I expect that's the "appeal" of it. The whole thing is making me feel quite ill. I hope they cancel his talks, he is "encouraged" to leave Ireland, and that the police back in the US are looking into his "activities."

This. A million times over.

I wonder are the drugs used manufactured in Ireland like so many medications and medical devices are and that's why the government are keeping quiet on it.

Yep. He didnt actually directly admit that the breastfeeding was a fetish. Although subsequent social media posts surfaced in which he talked about nipple clamps and fetish, iirc.

My wider point was almost the whole of the progressive left coming out to bat for him, even <after> the fetish stuff was revealed.
I recall a petition signed by the likes of Clive Lewis, Nadia Whittome, some senior union leaders and third sector bigwigs.
Yes, judging him and his kinks in the whole area of lactation, was a greater sin than what his whole schtick represented.
My Q is, if this specimen is barracked at the conference or his attendance rescinded because of bad publicity, will he similarly get a wave of support from the usual suspects?
Or have we moved on since that episode I highlighted?

Cailin66 · 28/08/2026 17:19

Once again nothing in the Irish mainsteam media. So let's see what the ALCI says about it's conference. 5 women presenters and then Jacob on the 14:15 slot. I'm surprised a reputable hotel like the Ardilaun Hotel is going to allow this.

Well, Mika was saying he was a transwoman. He is a leftwing activist. High up in the TUC.

All those things will have had an impact.

This one is leading with the kinky stuff. He's not pretending to be a woman, so he doesn't have that protective shield.

He is using some of the protective words. It'll be interesting to see if people do actually come out in support.

I suspect there will be similar quiet as there was when that academic did a thesis masturbating to CSA, or that Mermaids patron was found to be a paedophile supporter.

They get written off as bad apples, amd the women pointing out the problem will be cast as worse for mentioning it. See also Peter Tatchell, LGBTYS, etc.

These people are adept at turning a blind eye.
