"It's Leftist academics who promote surrogacy with books titles things like "Full Surrogacy Now", not Right-leaning traditionalists. It's Leftists who promote surrogacy as a "solution" to the sterilisating effect of wrong-sex hormones on trans-identifying people's bodies."
The left's support for surrogacy is the non commercial kind which is consistent with their principles of bodily autonomy. You know, the very same principle that underpinned feminism. Principles don't qualify as principles if they aren't applied consistently.
Remind me again of the political orientation of the US President who signed into law Executive Orders protecting women's sports and women in prison?
Biden unlike Trump understands he is bound by constitutional law.The Biden administration stated that indiscriminately housing transgender women in men's prisons was a violation of the Eighth Amendment (prohibiting cruel and unusual punishment) due to extreme risks of violence.
The Biden admin took the same approach with school sports because they thought a blanket ban would violate the 14th amendment but courts later ruled it didn't & they dropped the change.
"Title IX Rule Proposals (2023): The Department of Education proposed a new Title IX rule that would prevent schools from enacting blanket bans on transgender athletes, generally allowing younger students to participate on teams aligning with their gender identity. However, it permitted schools to implement limits in competitive high school and college sports to ensure fairness and prevent injury.
And there's many a left wing government globally that have imposed women's sports & prisons restrictions.
And before you howl "abortion ban", that's not what the overturning of Roe did. Some states chose to ban abortion, whilst several states have since made abortion a right in their state constitutions. Two states voted for Trump and voted for constitutional abortion rights on the same ballot paper.
Currently, 20 have banned or heavily restricted abortion at early stages of pregnancy, while the remaining 30 states and Washington, D.C., broadly protect abortion access. So overturning Roe effectively removed reproductive rights to almost half the country.
We keep being told that the Right will destroy women's rights, but, Texas and South Dakota's abortion laws aside, we aren't actually seeing it in the most Right-leaning US administration I've seen in my lifetime.
"The Trump administration significantly contributed to the rollback of women's rights through the appointment of conservative judges who overturned Roe v. Wade, the reinstatement of the Global Gag Rule cutting global health funding, the repeal of workplace pay-data requirements, and the dismantling of federal diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. 1, 2, , 5]
These rollbacks span domestic policy, international aid, and government infrastructure. 1]
