I know I make fun of unemployed maharajah Tariq Ali, but he's seen this kind of thing many times before. Maybe in his old age he's started to learn that this is not how you win friends and influence people.

I would also be happier if Corbyn had stayed on his allotment.

The Lambeth branch has had it's chair and vice chair resign after a struggle session over the (veteran female) vice chairs statement being seen as transphobic, after mention of balancing rights.

It seems to me the 'Members' Oversight Committee' is still pretty opaque. 5 members, but one wants to remain anonymous according to the Guardian. Only 3 listed on the Your Party website.

Steph Pike was heavily involved in Counterfire/People's Assembly Against Austerity 10 years ago, so I presume a Sultana supporter? Does anybody know where Felicity Smart and Will Donovan come from?

I notice that Zarah's friend Grace Lewis, the sole Coventry councillor to defect, got in. Grace is 22. She has the useful effect of making Zarah look a bit more mature by comparison.

I wonder if we could do that in reverse and find a very elderly figure who would make Corbyn look relatively young and sprightly. It's a shame Mildred Gordon is no longer with us.

Well she clearly did mean to deny it. Its what 'no place in the party' means. You cant 'clarify' something which was very clear.

I may be wrong about this, and please correct me if so - there's an oddity about Scotland's voting system and how it gives disproportionate results.

This year is likely to be very disproportionate because the SNP will dominate the constituency MSPs but, having only about 30% of the vote, might come first in the regional vote while having no regional MSPs at all.

I don't know how this massive wasted SNP vote affects the threshold for getting regional MSPs elected, whether it makes it lower or higher?

I do know the entry of Reform (who might come second in votes but struggle to win any constituencies) will make the regional lists more competitive.

On that basis, a YP vote of maybe 2% would not come close to winning any seats for YP, but could kneecap the Greens in multiple regions.

The football thing is very interesting.

Starmer oddly reminds me now of Hector the Inspector, the Inland Revenue's mascot designed to humanise the labyrinthine tax system in the 1990s.

Thanks for this @fromorbit I had somehow managed to miss the fact that even the batshit Scottish Greens were no longer batshit enough for ‘Ellie’. In my opinion there is only one issue he really cares about; getting men into women’s spaces. Can’t see that going down well with Muslim voters.

People (ok, blokes) who play football with Starmer say: he's very serious about the game, he puts in lots of energy, he's not a bad player exactly, he's just got zero instinctive feel for the game. That tells you something about him.

The fact that Corbyn doesn't put on a persona, he really is exactly how he appears to be, I think is key to why people warm to him... and often blind themselves to his faults.
