MN has made me pink and I am outraged at the stereotyping!

I feel that I have been taken over by aliens.

All my posts are now pink.

And OP posts are now the blue that used to be the colour on MNHQ posts.

Has the shouty blue been toned down.

I think it might have been, but now I am getting a sort of ingrained reaction to MN pages and experience the blue as very glaring.

Blue as "Post" button and strip at the top of the page with various options listed.

Not sure I wanted that image to lodge in my mind!

I had a look at the Active page (which I dont use) as so many complained about it.

Now it is still that shouty blue, but with screaming pink letters. Very few FWR threads qualify.

My dark glasses aren't dark enough

For some inexplicable reason MN have now removed the ability to set custom highlight colours for OP and user's own posts while viewing the site in dark mode.

I've been using that facility for years because I found it extremely useful and now they've removed it. How asinine!

I saw a post from MNHQ saying that they are working on restoring colour options to dark mode. Hopefully it won't take long.

@IwantToRetire You have my complete sympathy. I too had never used the Active page , so had a quick look. I now understand why people are so unhappy about it. It's dreadful.

Yes, isn't it wonderful? 😊The somewhat darker blue for buttons helps too, though I would still prefer the original dark and more subdued blue. I only use MN on my laptop so can avoid scrolling down as far as the huge banner at the bottom of the page which is still too bright and harsh. Must be much worse on mobile devices.

Well imagine them on a desk top where the MN web pages are now like a hostile glare into the eyes.

The worst example is the "active" page which I never knew about!

But took a look as so many said it was bad.

It was like having a glare radiating out of the screen.

Its that terrible luminous blue they are using.

Really uncomfortable.

And as for the anti Suffragette banning of good tones of green and purple, its almost like a slap in the face to loyal users.

Plus the refusal to just give us the old post background colours as options, which would make no difference whatsoever to MNHQ, who can't know or care what colours users actually choose. Why on earth are they insisting it has to be these ghastly new colours, maybe darkened a little?

Really uncomfortable with so much blue, especially blue text on a blue background which is horrible to read if your sight isn't good.

I tried that, and on other websites I use often lowering the level of contrast makes most of them seem quite dim, but strangely coming back on FWR it is almost as though it is back lit. Except the post colours which look like they have faded in the sun.

I agree with the royal blue being headache inducing. Will have to reduce the length of time I spend on Mumsnet & do something productive.

All these things have been unnecessarily introduced, just because some people thought a colour "refresh" would be a good thing and they're making the site virtually unusable for people with visual impairments, proneness to migraine or autism. What business deserves to flourish when it deliberately makes its public face less attractive to customers?

You're welcome. It didn't occur to me either, but plenty of other people have pointed it out.

I've no idea what the buttons were for (except that some people didn't realise they could change colour settings to make OP's/their own posts show up, so maybe they asked for them) & no idea why the MN proposal is to leave them in but allow users to turn them off. Their only use seems to be for dark mode - but MN proposes to change the background colours to posts here too, so... shrugs

The green looks more like beige. Someone was talking about 'greigeification' on YouTube the other day and it seems Mumsnet has fallen victim to it too! 😭 Bugger off. It's already taken over all my favourite make up brands. 🥺

Dark mode didn't really work for me, but then I gave up because for some reason on the list of posts the option to see posts in order of recently added doesn't show. No wonder there are so many duplicate threads!

No, MNHQ are the only ones who can delete posts. But read my sentence in full: posts can be deleted and no one can have any idea who it was. They now look like this:
