Hey All,

We’re trying out some new ways to make browsing easier on Mumsnet, and we’d love some of you to help us test them. By joining our early access group, you’ll be among the very first to try it out before it’s rolled out more widely.

How it works:
✅ Step 1: Sign up to join our test group.
✅ Step 2: We'll tell you when you've been added. You’ll then get early access to try the feature on Mumsnet.
✅ Step 3: We’ll email you a short feedback survey. Complete it, and you’ll be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 voucher!* 🎉

Sign up here!

Your feedback will make a big difference and help us shape how the feature looks and works when it launches to everyone.

Thanks so much for being part of our early access community — we really appreciate your help! 💙

*You’re entered into the draw if you use the feature and complete the survey. One entry per account.

What’s the feature? Infinite scrolling? Automatic scrolling?

When are we getting our old colours back? When will the main blue on here and the blue on blue Active page be toned down to the previous blue?

Are you actually serious??!!

Maybe try fixing the issue with Active not returning to the right place on the page which is driving people mad. That would be a good start to "making browsing easier"

Lots of changes were "rolled out more widely" last week - that went well spoiler: it didn't. Garish blue, insipid backgrounds and potentially dangerous bright buttons which we now have to actively disable to stop people noticing our posts (and usernames) if they are looking over our shoulder.

Your post doesn't mention what these "new ways" are, but if it's anything like last week they are probably along the lines of automatically reading out anything we post via the Alexa/whatever devices in the house so everyone can hear them, or possibly automatically copying and pasting anything we post to our spouses email account/the school Whatsapp group

Seriously, this is insulting to users of the site.

Is the feature a ChatGPT plug in to help writing posts, @MNHQ?

Bananamanananana · 23/09/2025 12:50

It depends on what the feature is. Can we have a clue? Is it going to give me a migraine every time I login?

NebulousSadTimes · 23/09/2025 13:08

In what way was browsing difficult before @Rebeccaatmumsnet ? Have you had many complaints, or requests for an easier way of browsing?

SirChenjins · 23/09/2025 13:09

You're jumping the gun here - fix the existing problems and then you can look for volunteers to test any new changes. And fgs, don't test in the same way that you tested the awful current new features.

Very true.

Woompund · 23/09/2025 13:10

Oh no another 'improvement'
please don't!!

KatyMumsnet · 23/09/2025 13:11

@FeralWoman those changes are in progress.

@MeatballMenu the issue where active wasn't returning to the right place is fixed now.

MeatballMenu · 23/09/2025 13:21

Yes, I realise it has (just) been fixed and have updated to say this on the threads that I have posted on, but given how long it's been going on, maybe someone from MN could have stopped tinkering about with the wires in the back for 5 minutes and updated the actual threads where it is being complained about.

Glad it's fixed. Just need some non-wishy-washy colours now.

@Rebeccaatmumsnet if we sign up will our comments be taken on board or will it be a case of just implement what you want and the have to retract/undo later?

LittleGreenDragons · 23/09/2025 15:02

We’re trying out some new ways to make browsing easier on Mumsnet,

a) can you give a clue as to what, ie infinite scrolling?
b) what is wrong with the browsing experience as it is?
c) assume this is for app users only?

Hobnobswantshernameback · 23/09/2025 15:50

This is a parody post ?
right?
because MNHQ can't actually be this tone deaf?
can they???

DeanStockwelll · 23/09/2025 15:59

While I agree with the ( now fixed ) issue with active threads and I am not keen on the new colours , MN is now asking us to try some new features on a trial run .
Surely that's a good thing?
They have given us a chance to use our voices to let them know how we feel.

If you don't want to participate then obviously that's fine .
But don't come back complaining in a few weeks when the new things are rolled out.

MeatballMenu · 23/09/2025 17:41

Well the "all-singing, all-dancing refresh" that was so spectacularly bad last week was also (apparently) the result of one of these surveys - that nobody can remember ever seeing, so it's hardly surprising that some of us are dubious about this "mystery" one.

There is also a banner at the top recently asking for feedback about the new homepage, but it doesn't include a link to the new homepage so I don't even know what the survey is about. I have mentioned this in more than one post, but nobody from MN has responded with a link.

KatyMumsnet · 24/09/2025 09:04

@MeatballMenu you can get to the homepage by clicking the Mumsnet logo in the top left of the website.

MeatballMenu · 24/09/2025 09:07

@KatyMumsnet Thank you!

MN opens on the Active page for me, so I never see the home page (well not recently anyway) So this https://www.mumsnet.com/ is the home page?

NebulousSadTimes · 27/09/2025 11:01

you’ll be among the very first to try it out before it’s rolled out more widely

Those who sign up get to 'try' it before it's rolled out. Will the answers to this survey actually make any difference to the changes you're already planning to roll out @Rebeccaatmumsnet ?

Posters on the other thread who had taken part in a survey said they hadn't been asked to comment on the changes that were dumped onto the site - they commented on other aspects but weren't asked about colours etc.

Jsokev · 27/09/2025 17:50

Oh god not more shit changes that don't actually make the site any better.
Why on earth does MN keep tinkering rather than focus on the basic fixes to the site that need doing?
I've never known a website to have so many issues!

JaneJeffer · 27/09/2025 20:30

Please don’t make any changes to the app
