Trying to summarise:

MESMAC is the sexual health charity in Leeds which also helps survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

Heathcliffe Bowen, convicted paedophile, was a trustee of MESMAC.

MESMAC was criticised recently for saying that it was okay for staff members to have sexual relations with clients who came to the charity for help.

Andrew Gilligan is reporting today that Project Blast, for boys and young men affected by childhood sexual abuse, has been closed down by MESMAC.

Phil Mitchell, leader of the Blast project, who was warned by police about his harassment of a female academic who was critical of the project's methods, seems to be looking for another job today.

I suspect that we will be hearing more of this.

I’m sure you have but has anyone else realised there seem to be HUGE problems with West Yorkshire? It was West Yorkshire police who questioned posie, there’s the MESMAC stuff and the (Un)managed zone...

Anything else to worry about? Surely this is not just a massive coincidence and something is going badly wrong...

Basically Andrew Gilligan posted a photo of the email Jessica Eaton had been sent by the police detailing that they had spoken to Phil Mitchell re his behaviour. The email used the term ‘warned’ Gilligan published an article repeating the term ‘warned’. Phil Mitchell took issue with it and produced written evidence from the police saying it wasn’t a warning it was advice, the paper issued a correction, there was a spat over the language and libel.

Phil Mitchell had separately posted on Twitter about being excited to become self employed in approx 1 week which indicates he is leaving MESMAC.

Just to recap the Yorkshire stuff.

I keep adding to it as we discuss things on here:

  • Mermaids is based in Leeds.
  • MESMAC (sexual health and survivors of sexual abuse charity) have been in the news recently for things that happened in Leeds. The Yorkshire branch were the ones who drafted the procedures stating that staff can have sex with clients. Paedophile Heathcliff Bowen also worked at MESMAC Leeds until his conviction recently.
  • West Yorkshire Police give funds to MESMAC.
  • West Yorkshire Police received two reports from Leeds Council about MESMAC. WYP did nothing.
  • Trans Leeds (support group for transgender people) and Action for Trans Health (yes, that lot) use MESMAC offices in Leeds for meetings.
  • Yorkshire Ambulance Service were the ones who invited Karen Jones (transgender killer and sex offender) to educate staff.
  • Susie Green of Mermaids contacted WYP about comments made online by Posie, and WYP immediately leap into action. This despite not responding to complaints of wrongdoing at MESMAC.
  • Two former interns at Mumsnet who publicly accused Mumsnet users of transphobia. Were students in Leeds.
  • Another Mumsnet user was contacted by WYP about comments made online
  • North Yorkshire Police interviewed Linda Bellos
  • Leeds have the "legal" prostitution zone

There was an issue re corruption in procurement in 2014 too and the issue re taking that fella to the brothel and giving him drugs which seriously undermined a prosecution.

Someone posted before re vice ‘When vice came round, one of the officers had a baywatch sticker on the back of their clipboard’ Hmm

And celine who wrote the blogpost referred to a very negative experience with the police which was why she felt hopeless re reporting problems to them.

There was the Friday morning club re Savile too...

It’s looking like a massive ‘boy’s club’ isn’t it?!
