Shock

I can't believe they were kept in the women's section. What an absolute joke.

Glad they split them up they were both clearly using their "relationship" to deliberatly make other inmates uncomfortable. Such male behaviour. Hmm

ToeToToe · 07/05/2018 10:33

So - 2 gay men, convicted killers, conduct relationship in women's prison, by identifying as women? Now separated. Good.

ToeToToe · 07/05/2018 10:33

Madness that they were allowed in a women's prison in the first place.

I thought this "didn't happen" ??

SuburbanRhonda · 07/05/2018 10:35

Aren’t we constantly being told there are no pre-op transwomen in the female estate?

AngryAttackKittens · 07/05/2018 11:06

I would really like to know who specifically/which group is pushing this nonsense in Scotland. It can't just be that one lunatic in Edinburgh who demanded the right for trans people to do their own surgery on each other.

R0wantrees · 07/05/2018 11:08

"The source said: “Some of the lassies were getting more and more uncomfortable and complained."

"Aren’t we constantly being told there are no pre-op transwomen in the female estate?"

I believe legal precedents was established by Karen Jones who successfully challenged being detained in male prison estate without GRC /surgery?

TerfinUSA · 07/05/2018 11:21

The pre/post-op thing is deemed worse than Hitler by TRAs. Basically any kind of law that says 'if you want to be recognised as your new sex, you must have the op', is described as 'compulsory mutilation' 'eugenics', and similar language.

In Sweden they just handed out hundreds of millions of crowns in compensation.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/05/2018 11:29

The journalist seems to be on Irn Bru not Kool-aid ... wonder if papers south of the border are reporting this, and if so in what terms?

AngryAttackKittens · 07/05/2018 11:30

"Tragic trans woman parted from one true love by evil prison service after complaints by TERF prisoners."

ToeToToe · 07/05/2018 11:32

Angry - that would be what I expect from Pink News later on today.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/05/2018 11:33

OP -you might want to report and get the title corrected. It's 'transgender murderers' not 'murders'

Ereshkigal · 07/05/2018 11:35

Yes Angry! And agree that's what it will be in Penis News.

R0wantrees · 07/05/2018 11:52

Anne Ruzylo speaks about her professional experience in the prison service (from 5 mins in) & commitment to the vulnerable women in prisons.

"the prison service is afraid.... if a prisoner says they are going to commit suicide they receive letters from solicitors, MPs the pressure to allow or to move that person into female estate is there. Quite frankly, women lives in that sort of situation do not seem to matter."

OvaHere · 07/05/2018 12:05

It's interesting the different use of language in various media articles. The two gay men in the OP are called transgender yet this story in the Mail today is 'two men dressed as women'

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5698019/Man-allegedly-dressed-woman-sexually-assaulted-14-year-old-boy.html

Is it because they are from the US? Because the victim was male? Or is the only difference whether someone describes themselves as trans? In reality there is no difference between the material reality of the two men in the OP and these two men.

TerfinUSA · 07/05/2018 12:59

Those US men are trans. 100%. It's just that the DM doesn't give a shit. Note the mugshots from previous years, with lipstick, etc, also the female FB profile.

www.sun-sentinel.com/local/broward/fort-lauderdale/fl-sb-dressed-as-woman-sex-assault-20180503-story.html

If Phillips was the victim, rather than perpetrator, of an attack then there would vigils up the wazoo about 'transwomen of color'

Someone who wears female clothes as anything more than a joke as a party is transgender, it's as simple as that.

SardineReturns · 07/05/2018 13:09

One of these is the one who won the exercise type competition in the women's prison and got a bunch of goodies as a prize.

Apparently "she" thrashed all the other women that competed in the gym type challenges.

All of this just shows up how much more important men are than women, across society. I don't personally understand how anyone can think that's fair/

reported here:
www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/outrage-transgender-prisoner-living-woman-12022675
extract:
"A source said: “The rest of them shouldn’t have bothered even entering.

“It was surreal. Everybody knew it wasn’t very fair, but nobody was allowed to say it.

“The women inmates have had to accept that Stewart is being allowed to live as a woman, despite not having had surgery.

“That means she is in the showers at the same time as other inmates, which some have found quite awkard.

“She has the right to determine her own gender.

“That is fine because the vast majority of the women believe in inclusiveness and equality"

My MSP sent some questions to the Scottish Prison Service. One was about the statistics for incidents involving trans prisoners, in the last 5 years.
The SPS replied that they have no statistics on this, as they have no system for recording these incidents separately.

I encourage everyone to ask your MSPs to ask the SPS about these statistics. I expect most MSPs will be like mine, and will have been told that there is "no evidence" of any problems arising with the placement of transwomen in female prisons.
They won't have realised that that is because no statistics are being recorded.
