Thanks YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet for your response.
I did not find the thread asking for reading material on the topic to be at all goady. I understand the topic is a sensitive one. But I believe there needs to be a balance between wanting to avoid controversy on one hand, and actually not shutting down debate.
I understand the motive is well intentioned, but if mumsnet could develop a clear policy on the issue then perhaps we can all make sure it’s upheld and steer clear from those that are being provocative.
I think mumsnet could’ve sent a warning message instead of just simply deleting.
I would kindly ask for the thread about reading material to be reinstated because there was only one poster who was being goady and they can have their post deleted. While the rest of us can benefit from the thread.
As someone who is of Palestinian heritage, my grandad was part of the 1948 evictions, I’m happy to put aside my point of views on the political side of the debate.. and abide by rules to maintain harmony on this platform.
But I’m not happy for voices that are attempting to humanise my people to be completely zapped. Because that feels repressive. And that results in more harm than good..
There is a big chunk of us Muslims reading these platforms, some are Palestinians and some are Arabs. I’ve had private messages to me in solidarity from fellow Arabs previously.
A healthy conversation on these topics is needed. Else it feels extremely dismissive.
So please do formulate a clearer policy on the issue so we know how to maintain those conversations without feelings silenced.
Thanks
