Could we please have a gynae/women's health section?

I was surprised to find recently when wanting to start a thread on issues surrounding difficulty getting referrals/diagnosis that there isn't a women's health/gynae section.

I know there's a 'family planning' section but many gynae issues cause infertility/inability to stay pregnant so people with these issues may not want to be dealing with seeing that title or using that section?

Plus there's so much more to women's health than pregnancy/fertility.

Hi Graphista,

Thanks so much for the suggestion. You're absolutely right - there is a lot more to women's health and we'd be more than happy to consider a new topic in this remit.

As ever with new topics, we need to know that enough people will use it before we open it so we're going to be watching this thread for a while.

Would anyone else be interested in this topic? If so, please show some support here!

Yes, great idea 💡

AnnUnderTheFryingPan · 07/06/2018 17:18

Yes, it’s a really good idea.

DramaAlpaca · 07/06/2018 17:18

These days I feel more at home in the menopause section, but yes it's a good idea.

ScreamingValenta · 07/06/2018 17:21

I think this is a great idea - it was my gynae problems that led me to MN via Google. Pregnancy/fertility was not a factor for me, so a general topic would have made it easier for me to find relevant threads following on from the first one; rather than, say, many endo-related threads I looked at being specifically related to fertility.

PortiaCastis · 07/06/2018 17:22

Yes good idea

missjsays · 07/06/2018 17:30

I had surgery today due to Gynae issues so would be keen for this section to be created. Thanks Mumsnet.

crumble9 · 07/06/2018 17:43

Yep think this would be a big help!

Hamandcheesebaguette · 07/06/2018 17:44

Yes please!

KitXi · 07/06/2018 17:47

Yes please. I currently have gynae issues that are nothing to do with fertility, and could do with a chat about them!

PalePinkSwan · 07/06/2018 17:48

Yes definitely.

TammySwansonTwo · 07/06/2018 18:03

Definitely - the majority of women will experience gynae problems at some point in their life, I definitely think it warrants its own topic. Thanks for making the suggestion @Graphista

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 07/06/2018 18:04

That's a great idea. Do it!

Graphista · 07/06/2018 19:50

I’d find this a helpful topic, good idea OP

catsofa · 07/06/2018 21:12

YES! Yes yes yes please do this, its so needed. There's a thread in active right now about unexpected period symptoms which really shows the need for more sharing of experience of women's health.

Alwaysrushingaround · 07/06/2018 22:34

Yes please for this important topic. I've never felt so relieved yet at the same time so sad reading the current thread on periods. So much unnecessary suffering that women have lived with believing it to be normal.. Sad
