Could we please have a gynae/women's health section?

I was surprised to find recently when wanting to start a thread on issues surrounding difficulty getting referrals/diagnosis that there isn't a women's health/gynae section.

I know there's a 'family planning' section but many gynae issues cause infertility/inability to stay pregnant so people with these issues may not want to be dealing with seeing that title or using that section?

Plus there's so much more to women's health than pregnancy/fertility.

Here's the current list. I think gynae issues would have significantly more traffic than swine flu

Could we please have a gynae/women's health section?
silver1977 · 08/06/2018 17:52

Yes please

Tumilnaughts · 08/06/2018 18:38

I would use it!

Sagegreen · 08/06/2018 18:47

Yes good idea

Wassat · 08/06/2018 18:50

Yes!

Jellylover · 08/06/2018 20:48

Definite yes from me

CarpeVitam · 08/06/2018 20:53

Absolutely!

IamXXHearMeRoar · 09/06/2018 00:57

yup

TinkyWinkyStoleMyHandbag · 09/06/2018 01:08

Great idea.

LoveProsecco · 09/06/2018 06:32

Great idea!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 09/06/2018 06:37

Definitely! Great suggestion op

ParellelReality · 09/06/2018 06:37

No. We have enough topics as it is. Whenever there's a suggestion for a new topic there are plenty of people behind it and then they are often like tumbleweed once they start and people still post in AIBU or chat 'for traffic'.

Mxyzptlk · 10/06/2018 09:55

Yes.
If it isn't used, surely it can be removed again.

Mxyzptlk · 10/06/2018 09:59

The current thread on period symptoms is in Mumsnet Classics?!? Confused I would never have thought of looking for it there.

Sevendown · 10/06/2018 10:05

Yes we need a women’s health board.

So many auto immune conditions are more common in women plus there’s the general dismissal by the medical profession.

The menopause.
Women’s cancers.
Periods.
Mental health.
Thyroid issues
Osteoporosis
Polycystic ovaries
Hysterectomy
Women with autism

3luckystars · 10/06/2018 10:11

I think it’s a great idea!

PeanuttyButter · 10/06/2018 10:13

I would post in there yes!
Nulliparous and never been pregnant.
No PCOS but lots of pelvic gynae issues.
Not close enough to my mum to talk about her experiences plus she only had periods for 10 years before having a complete hysterectomy and that was half a lifetime ago. Would be nice to know if what I’m experiencing is normal.

Mini2017 · 10/06/2018 10:15

100 times yes!

Justgimmeit · 10/06/2018 10:16

I would also like this section. I have some ongoing issues and would like to discuss them on a section purely for this topic

ShovingLeopard · 10/06/2018 10:18

I think this is a great idea.

Mini2017 · 10/06/2018 10:18

A lot of girls grow up being told that gynae issue are part of being a women and pain is “normal” but anyone who’s experienced issues and extreme pain from say, PCOS or Endo, knows it’s not normal.
We need to teach the next generation that extreme pain has to be investigated

SoaringSwallow · 10/06/2018 14:04

What about it being like the sex board where you have to be a member for a while before posting?
