Women, by definition, no longer exist in Scotland - What can we do?

Some links below for those not yet in the know.

This has been so upsetting and particularly as it now seems that the gender critical debate is gaining a little traction in England, I want to know what can be done in Scotland.

This is a devolved issue so we have to fight our own fight and I feel like nothing is happening, no discussion is taking place, nobody knows we have been legally redefined to include men. Women no longer exist in Scotland.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3201226-IANBU-The-Scottish-Government-have-stolen-the-word-female-It-now-includes-males

Please tell me there is something going on behind the scenes in Scotland to get the conversation under way and fix this?

Can anyone give me hope? I don't know a single person in real life who knew what was going on or who agrees with what the government is doing, I feel like I am in a bad novel.

This is absolutely bonkers. Have you thought about contacting Scottish newspapers or radio shows?

IamXXHearMeRoar · 04/07/2018 17:37

I am trawling to see what press coverage I can find.

there is a Brave ManFriday activist here

Do we have any scots journalists or bloggers here willing to get involved?

If you see a relevant article can you post a link so we can form an idea of how involved the press are?

It's been coming. The SNP MSP who was on question time a couple of months ago (can't remember his name, might have been the same nights as Paris Lee) was very clear on their policy. I QUOTE, "Transwomen are women" . His attitude was that if anyone disagrees with that, they are obviously ignorant or bigoted.

gendercritter · 05/07/2018 13:41

This is shocking. I'm not Scottish but I care op. I just wanted to say that.

UglyCathKidstonBag · 05/07/2018 14:09

Bouncing this, it need to be seen.

Moononthehill28 · 06/07/2018 06:47

This is terrifying

IamXXHearMeRoar · 06/07/2018 07:25

Such a good point made on another thread so I have poached it, thanks @ Knicknackpaddyflak

If you stated in a pre election manifesto an intent to remove all sex segregation for women, the right to female only health care professionals for women, and that the government would be anti science and proposing to punish people for blasphemy against the new anti science beliefs do you think you would have won an election?

I'm not in Scotland at the moment, but I lived there (with my husband) for many years and we hoped to move back there in the not too distant future - but I'm not so sure now. If there's any activism happening that I could help with from England, please let me know.

Fan fucking tastic Angry

Waddlelikeapenguin · 06/07/2018 13:38

I'm here Smile trying to hope & fight.

Write to your MSPs (all of them your regional ones too www.theyworkforyou.com ) meet with your local MSP if possible. You dont have to write the perfect letter just send it!

Talk to people; nearly everyone I know has thought it was a joke/unreal then has been horrified it is real.

If you have kids in school talk to the school, ask if their trans guidance has considered the effects on girls give them a copy of the schools pack from www.transgendertrend.com
Ask if overnight school trips will be single sex sleeping or single gender i.e. mixed sex tell other parents if mixed sex!! (Same for toilets & games changing)

Write to your MSP again!

Legal challenge re. school trans policy;

Remember there are more GC voices we just need to use them Flowers

No surrender Grin

Danniz · 06/07/2018 23:53

I emailed my MSP, twice, and she has completely ignored me.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 07/07/2018 00:06

Danniz that sucks! (My MP is ignoring me ao i know how frustrating it is. I was surprised by how receptive my SNP MSP was.)
Could you try post? Or go for a face to face meet? Or write to your regional MSPs?

I'm sure you know it's important to put your address on emails & letters so they know they are supposed to represent you.

Danniz · 07/07/2018 00:11

Yes, I included my address. I imagine she didn't respond because she couldn't give an honest response while toeing the party line

IamXXHearMeRoar · 07/07/2018 08:22

Danniz could you send or hand deliver the letter again and cc someone higher up (and possibly your local rag?) . Perhaps it got lost in the post...

Waddlelikeapenguin · 07/07/2018 11:09

Danniz i feel sure it's exactly the same reason that my labour MP ignores me!
My MSP has been very careful not to put anything on paper but has talked & listened to me.

Danniz · 07/07/2018 11:23

I sent it by email and got an acknowledgment. I sent it again with my second email.

Danniz · 07/07/2018 11:24

Really fed up of ,our so called representatives who just do what the leader tells them to.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 07/07/2018 11:37

I know, i comfort myself with the fact that someone it the MPs office has to read my letters & I assume someone keeps a tally of what letters have been about.
Plus the pink news poll!

Why havent they released the consultation responses/results yet?

Flowers
Waddlelikeapenguin · 07/07/2018 11:39

Actually is it worth writing to your regional msps & say you had no response from your msp? If you have a different party to pick it could cause pressure?

ARoomSomewhere · 09/07/2018 11:08

SNP MSP's cannot divert from the party line.
They 'sign up' not to. No need for 'whipping in' as their 'bot-ness' is ensured from the outset.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 11/07/2018 14:32

ARoomSomewhere yep they are the borg!

Danniz · 11/07/2018 18:15

That's scary and undemocratic?! Who decides on policy?

Waddlelikeapenguin · 11/07/2018 18:53

Danniz snp leadership?
They vote on block a bit like a union taking a vote but then if the majority want to strike you strike even if you personally voted against except they dont do the first vote Confused
This is not a well thought out analogy Blush
Basically SNP MSP vote with SNP or they are out of the SNP, regional representation my arse...

Waddlelikeapenguin · 23/07/2018 16:47

I tried to post this yesterday! Trying again.
