Twitter thread: no impact assessments carried out for school guidance in Scotland

Well this is concerning, although probably not surprising:

Government funded school guidance has been issued across Scotland, endorsed by Children's Commissioner, charities, LA's etc which discards the need for single sex spaces/sports t.co/ye3ekBGSEi

No Equality Impact Assessments were carried out, neither by the organisations who compiled the guidance nor the Local Authorities who have distributed it amongst their schools.

It's shocking how blatant the disregard for girls. Absolutely shocking.

Melamin · 04/06/2018 17:39

I am very much in awe of the women who write these letters and of their tenacity. [heart] Grin

It is absolutely worthwhile. Thanks from me.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 04/06/2018 18:41

Bloody hell.
Has this been posted in scotsnet too?

The pen is mightier than the sword Flowers

thebewilderness · 05/06/2018 03:14

I guess they do not need to pretend to care about girls any more and can go full speed ahead at driving the girls out of schools.

SunsetBeetch · 05/06/2018 06:26

I haven't posted it on Scotsnet, no. Would yjey appreciate it? I know people moan about 'terfy' stuff leaking out into other boards!

The total disregard for girls is honestly heart breaking to me. And it's giving them some very troubling messages around boundary setting and reporting inappropriate behaviour.

Post it, then no one can say that they didn't know.

ibaker23 · 05/06/2018 07:43

So every child just begs their parents to send them to school everyday? Looks to me like @Scottish_Women only care about parents' version of the story and not about children being forced into schooling.

@ibaker23 So every child just begs their parents to send them to school everyday? Looks to me like @Scottish_Women only care about parents' version of the story and not about children being forced into schooling.

I had to be told to go to mixed primary school because I didn't want to go to a place where I was sexually assaulted and beaten up. Strangely, I became much more enthusiastic about school when I started at an all-girl secondary. If the kids aren't wanting to go to school, there's probably a reason and the parents should find out why.

Or are you seriously advocating that every child be home-schooled? That's not viable: many parents don't have the skill of teaching and many households have both parents working.

ibaker23 · 05/06/2018 08:25

I never wanted to go to school. I didn't know it was even an option to not go to school. If the solution I come up with doesn't work for you then you don't want anything to change. And you're not even looking at it from the kids' perspective. Not one of the people who assaulted you wanted to be at school. And not one of the kids at your all girl school wanted to be there either

Mossandclover · 05/06/2018 08:37

Derailing again?

Lemonjello · 05/06/2018 08:37

Did you also see the additional tweet about West Lothian Council which mentions the public sector equality duty they have but are ignoring, and that WLC have taken it upon themselves to rewrite the equality act to include the protected characteristic of gender identity (instead of reassignment) and gender (instead of sex), thus removing sex as a protected characteristic altogether?

ibaker23 · 05/06/2018 08:42

Moss
Oh here I was thinking we were on childrens' side..............................

Ereshkigal · 05/06/2018 08:43

Someone mentioned this here a few weeks ago. The thread was taken down because apparently there were privacy concerns.

Pratchet · 05/06/2018 08:52

Bex Stinson from Stonewall has been asked how they were 'so successful' in Scotland. H** response: they bypassed the public and went directly to the service organisations. The 'conversations were being had in rooms with decision makers' and not in public. That's how.

Pratchet · 05/06/2018 08:54

So, mumsnet KEEP TALKING IN PUBLIC - that's what they hate

Ereshkigal · 05/06/2018 08:55

Such bullshit. How arrogant they are.

Ereshkigal · 05/06/2018 08:56

Clearly we need more Scottish events from WPUK, WNTT and independent groups.

HotRocker · 05/06/2018 08:58

Just ignore Ibaker. They seem to have no other purpose than to disrupt and derail threads.

ibaker23 · 05/06/2018 08:59

Good job ignoring me................................

Pratchet · 05/06/2018 09:02

Yes: definitely more Scottish events
The other narrative being pushed at government is 'Ireland did it'. This is a huge part of their argument.

Lemonjello · 05/06/2018 09:07

Clearly we need more Scottish events from WPUK, WNTT and independent groups.

Engender (Scottish women’s group) had an event to discuss the changes to the GRA. It was cancelled (not rescheduled) due to ‘diary clashes’ Hmm

Ereshkigal · 05/06/2018 09:11

They're in bed with all the trans organisations aren't they?

Lemonjello · 05/06/2018 09:11

Yes completely and utterly.

Do you have a link for that Pratchet?
