Coming to the mat in May

The year is flying in. My yoga aims for May are to do a short focus on abs/core every day, and work on strength to help my joints. I had to cancel going to class today as had a tooth out at dentist, but did a 30min hatha SB video before going, plus 5 minutes of plank, reverse plank and tree plank.

@happytobemrsg I’m glad you enjoyed your yin class. I have my first one on Sunday, I’m looking forward to it.

Oo love yoga. Currently post partum so resting for now but will lurk for inspiration if you don’t mind 😊

Been absent for a bit but still loosely keeping up with the Sarah Beth calendar.
Those of you that have the app, I really enjoyed the Peace one from Tuesday. Thought it was going to be the same old but it had Gorilla twice and some binds in warrior and triangle which I really enjoyed as a fresh challenge. Making me realise my shoulders are a bit tight.
Wild thing though is a challenging pose for me! Need to work on upper body strength.
Oh it seems I have such a long list of things I need to work on 🤣
I did the 10 min hip one this am, another lovely one for me.
I was feeling a bit jaded with Sarah Beth but these slightly different ones have enlivened me.

Hi @Anon2536474 lurk away! 😊 and congratulations ☺️.

30 min yoga sculpt arms, 30 min yoga sculpt legs, 30 min playing around with crow, crow jump-back and laughing at my inability to do one legged crow lol. Last night’s class was really good, it had been a stressful day and it soothed every part of me. Love yoga so much ❤️

@Jumbojem that Peace one sounds nice, I’ll do it tomorrow.

60 min Sarah Beth and Brett Larkin, quite nice doing 30 min of each.

40 min Hatha with Brett Larkin…breath and movement really synced well which was lovely and calming.

75min Ashtanga class. Was quite a relaxed one, for Ashtanga. Think I’ll offset it tomorrow with something more energetic.

Sorry @Poisonwood I have nothing to report on the yoga front, work is really busy and two kids in exam years mean times a bit stretched. I've only just realised it's half term next week! I have a long weekend coming so was aiming to do one of the l8nger practises to really lose myself in something.

Poisonwood · 21/05/2025 17:52

@Jumbojem it’s a stressful time of year!! I hope they do well…my son actually started with a sick bug the night before one of his a week ago, he was gutted he couldn’t sit the exam, luckily his prelim/coursework had been great so it’s okay but sheesh.

I did a 30 min Charlie Follows advanced strength yesterday after travelling for most of the day, I needed the movement! Today I’ve done a 30 min somatic one with Brett Larkin as felt very run down.

Lovely 75min flow class yesterday. It’s getting cancelled after next week due to council cuts, which is gutting. You don’t see the council high heid-yins cutting their enormous pay packets.
Had the opportunity, with mirrors along each wall, to really notice my alignment and I was pretty happy about itl.

75min Ashtanga class. Felt good, even after a 45min drive home in pouring rain.

That's a shame about the classes being cut.
OH has been in bed for two days with a bad back/sciatic nerve. I can't help thinking if he'd joined me on the mat, like I kept asking, he might not be in so much pain now! He runs a lot and I'm like a broken record telling him how important mobility is to keep injuries at bay. Although the cause on this occasion was gardening it seems.
I haven't actually practiced what I preach and done no yoga since Friday, but will be back on my mat Thursday 🙂

Poisonwood · 27/05/2025 22:46

@Jumbojem I’m the same - DH gets so stiff and I’m always thinking if only he’d join me on the mat. He was a farmer all his life, his body really needs some TLC!

Did a lovely Charlie Follows 45min Bird of Paradise video, am definitely doing that one again.

30 min Sarah Beth power yoga, then some extra plank variations for fun.

60 min flow class tonight but a 45 min drive in the rain to get there. From next week, it’ll be 60 min Pilates followed by 60min flow which will be really nice.
