Been looking for a yoga mat that is well cushioned and made from natural materials. Must be non slippy too! Is there such a thing? Can anyone recommend? 🙏

I recently got a new mat from TK Maxx and it's the loveliest, thickest and most comfortable mat ever.

Not sure what it's made of, probably not natural, but I'm planning to keep it for a long time. My last mat I've had for 20 years and now my kids use it to play with. Not ideal but not a throwaway product.

I can’t thing of any of the big brand yoga mats that meet your requirements.

Manduka, especially the Pro is thick and supportive but quite slippy until broken in and this can take months. Eco in respect it will last years.

Lifeforme is grippy but not that thick and crazy expensive.

Jade rubber mats are grippy and comfortable and possibly more eco materials wise but you can’t leave them in the sun, leaving them in a south facing room or conservatory will ruin them in days.

Cork mats smell.

I haven’t tried the lulu lemon one but I understand it’s very heavy.

Make friends at your yoga class and ask if you can try anything that takes your fancy if you don’t want to waste money. If you’ve got cash to burn just pick one and see if it suits you.

I don’t go to a class and I don’t have cash to burn so was hoping for a suggestion on here. I do not mind spending money if recommended well though! I quite like the idea of cork, what kind of smell? Because my current yoga stinks! Am not bothered about being heavy so maybe I’ll look at that one. Thanks!

Edited

I haven’t had a cork yoga mat but I’ve been in a class with a lady who had two, one after the other. I thought they both smelled like wet dog. It’s possible she had a dog though but I have a dog that lies on my (manduka pro) mat and it doesn’t absorb the smell at all.

At most classes Lifeforme is currently the most popular mat.

I have the Manduka Eko. It’s about 5mm thick, a bit longer than a standard mat and quite heavy. Made of rubber, it was slippy when I got it but broke in pretty quickly and is perfect now. I have had it four years and I use it almost every day, my practice is quite strong so it has had a huge amount of wear and only now showing some signs.
