Feet are changing

I know this is a strange topic but I noticed since I started doing yoga 6 months ago that my feet have gotten wider and my toes are more naturally spaced out. My toes used to be tightly squished together and my big toe would only separate from the other if I intentionally spread my toes but now their is a gap there without me doing anything. In fact I’ve had to buy wider shoes!

Has anyone else experienced this? It definitely became more prominent when I started practicing balance poses.

My partner jokes that my feet have gotten ripped. 😂 The funny thing is I was not trying to strengthen my feet. I was trying to get strong legs and abs. It was merely an unintended consequence of the practice but a welcome one for sure. They used to cramp up a lot in the beginning but now I don’t have much of an issue. ☺️

When I started my feet used to hurt a bit and the teacher said they would get stronger over time.

I was sceptical but it has happened, they don't hurt or wobble nearly so much, can't say I've noticed them changing shape though!

Yes! I have hammer toes and have definitely noticed they're more "relaxed" somehow and I have more control over them/able to spread them out.

I could never use those toe separators when I painted my toenails and now I can. I could never get my fingers in between my toes and now I can.

It wasn't something I intentionally set out to do either 😆

My feet aren’t wider but I suddenly noticed that my feet looked more toned and they’re very flexible. As you say it’s not something one expects! My feet would tear when I first started yoga but now they’re fine. Recently I’ve noticed the same about my hands! I do Ashtanga.
