Moments of transcendence during savasana

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

In savasana today I had a very clear vision of all the souls of all people in the world floating over the surface of the earth, like a Chagall painting. It was lovely and beautiful, like a feeling of connection with all humanity.

Never had anything like that before and am not even sure I believe in souls. It wasn’t a dream (I’ve fallen asleep in savasana before, many times 😂) but a clear waking vision and very comforting. Just wondered if anyone had experienced similar.

Lol I usually just fall asleep 🤣

AlisonDonut · 18/09/2023 00:03

I usually think about what I'm going to cook for my tea when I get home.

Hmmmbetterchangethis · 18/09/2023 00:04

I lie there feeling awkward, wondering what I should be thinking about, feeling annoyed that I could have done 10 more minutes core work in the time!!!!!

Sleepo · 18/09/2023 00:08

😂 Thanks for the replies. I’m normally thinking about what’s for tea too. I’m not a very woo person. That’s why today was such a surprise.

I did a yoga nidra session recently on a retreat and I felr very strange (good, but strange) afterwards as I had a proper spiritual experience. I can’t even really describe it now but it felt quite life changing at the time.

I usually find savasana quite tricky, either because my mind wanders or I get emotional. This was something different. It’s definitely a thing. Enjoy it!

Thanks for sharing that @RoyKentsTieDyeTop I find the all body and brain stuff (technical term 😂) so fascinating.

I'm usually the same (what's for tea rather than visions) but sometimes it does really work - one of my teachers uses those brass bowls and sometimes the singing of it does go right through me and sort of carries me away, think I have to reach the right level of total exhaustion in the class first!

PaperDoves · 20/09/2023 08:19

Yes, it's normal. I live for those moments (although I'm trying not to, grasping is a major spiritual hindrance but then I'm not very spiritually advanced).

It's not woo though, to whoever said that! When you get to a certain place you understand the interconnectedness of all things. It will start as brief insights and gradually increase.

I've had a dream like it once.

ssd · 20/09/2023 08:28

Well today is my birthday and I've just learned something new. I didn't know what this meant so i googled this and i learned what i had done the one time i did yoga , 40 years ago, i had done correctly, as i too fell asleep and for 40 years i thought I'd done it wrong and was embarrassed i fell asleep. I genuinely didn't realise this was a thing. I thought it was just me being lazy!!!
So thanks op!!

Surely you would be better off doing Pilates?

DewinDwl · 20/09/2023 09:33

I have had similar doing meditation. Quite hard to explain but they are very joyful experiences aren't they?

DewinDwl · 20/09/2023 09:35

Forgot to add that I don't consider myself a spiritual person at all. Atheist, scientific, logical mindset, I don't believe on souls etc.

MrHopsPortal · 20/09/2023 09:47

Yes - once at the end of a yin workshop I was in a supported savasana of some sort and I had a proper out of body experience like I was floating above myself and just this insane sense of calm and peace and that everything was right with all humanity.

I'm the least least spiritual person you have ever met as well.

cassiatwenty · 20/09/2023 10:00

Happy birthday @ssd 🌺
