Has anyone got better at sitting cross legged?

I'd love to be able to sit cross legged without my knees pointing up in V.

Not fussed about getting them flat to the ground but would like to look and feel more poised and comfortable than I do now.

Can anyone offer any strategies or tips?

No. find it uncomfortable and aggravates my groin strain i had a while ago but never ever found it ok !!...you not alone. sit on a block as that is easier.

If I'm sitting on the floor I embrace the V shape and put blocks under my knees so I can relax my legs into the position rather than feel like I'm holding them there because they won't relax lower without it hurting.

I find sitting on a bolster helps (a LOT) if I do want my knees on the floor for that classic buddha pose. I started off with a bolster draped over a block but now I only need a bolster. So something's relaxing and opening somewhere but I'll be blown if I know what, how or when it happened Grin

Hip mobility exercises.
I like Tom Morrison, he’s on you tube. My yoga has improved enormously since I started doing mobility exercises for my shoulders, hips and thoracic spine a few times a week. Only 10-15 mins worth but it has made a huge difference.

I would recommend sitting on a bolster as that way it allows your knees to drop. It's very comfortable too.

I can easily sit cross legged on the floor with my knees on the ground but I have very open hips. Some people will never be able to sit that way as it depends on your anatomy - if the head of your femurs is more deeply set into your hip sockets it will be harder.
