Hi,
Does anyone have a recommendation for a non-slip yoga towel? I started Hatha yoga, and find my feet and hands slipping on the mat.
Many thanks!

I'd suggest a different mat rather than a towel, which will just slip about even worse IME. Rubber mats are the grippiest I've found. I use a thin rubber 'travel mat' over an old thicker one.

Have you washed your mat to remove the oils that build up on it over time? Also, make sure your hands/feet are well moisturised as dry skin can cause the problem too.

I just wash my mat with warm soapy water then hang it over the washing line to air-dry - doesn't seem to have done it any harm, but it only cost me a fiver (Aldi).

@thedevilinablackdress thank you! I’ll look for a rubber one.

@DatingDinosaur thanks for your suggestions. Much appreciated. it’s a class and they already have matts at the facility so I can’t wash the matt. But I want to bring something with me to help with slips. Is the one from Aldi works well as anti-slip?

@Fifi80 It's too cheap to be anti-anything! When I do start slipping on it that's when I wash it and the problem goes away for a while. It's a waffle-textured foam mat, about 4mm thick.

@DatingDinosaur great! Thank you.

Look for grip dot yoga towels, they're great - can recommend the yoga mad one that comes up on Amazon. I started using them for the same reason as you but now just like the texture and having something to put over a studio mat.

I got mine in TK Maxx, there were lots of different ones.

The best yoga mat to me Yogibare! They're perfect for this type of yoga and your body will not slip Smile

Mercurial123 · 18/06/2023 07:24

I used a grippy yoga towel when I first started I didn't like it. I've been using a cork mat for the last 5 years and it's really good.

If you think you're going to stick at yoga, I would invest in your own decent mat. Yogibare or Liforme are the best ones imo. They're expensive but you'll never slip and they'll last for ages.

Thank you so much for your suggestions!

I did purchase the towel suggested by @Mufflette. I appreciate the recommendation and the towel is working perfectly for me at a reasonable price.

Have a great weekend everyone!
