I'm doing the November Yoga Challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support

In memory of my Mum, I'm doing the November Yoga Challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support.

15 minutes a day every day throughout November.

I thought this would be a great way of improving my yoga. I'm 53, menopausal and extremely stiff and inflexible. I started a class in September and my aim by doing the 15 minutes a day on top of the weekly hour long class, is to be the least worst person in the class! 😆

Furthermore, I lost my lovely mum to cancer earlier on this year and the nurses were brilliant. So it's a very worthy cause.

I've raised £115 so far so I'm very pleased.

Today I did an extended Sun Salutation.

I will post my progress throughout the month.

If you're also doing it, you're welcome to join the thread.

I'm using this yoga app on my phone which is free and has lots of different workouts.

You can also track how often you've done a workout so by the end of November there will be a mark in every day.

Wish me luck 🤞

Oh hello <waves>
I am sorry you lost your mum Flowers

I will watch your thread as I keep thinking about doing yoga and never get round to it - maybe this will inspire me! I have a family member who has recently had MacMillan help too, it is a good cause.

Hi @carefulcalculator Thanks for joining the thread. If you want to give yoga a go, download the app and see how you like it.

Progress is going well so far. Yesterday I focussed on the arms and shoulders and today on the back.

I was telling my friend about the challenge and she said she hadn’t heard of the November yoga challenge. She’d only heard of Mowvember where you grow a moustache for November. And she said let’s be honest, that would probably be easier for us! 🤣

Week 1 completed.

I'm not sure I feel much more supple yet but it's all for a good cause.

I've received my MacMillan supporters t shirt today so I wore that for today's workout.

Well done @juliadorking - hopefully you will start to feel the benefits soon as well as knowing you've supported a good cause Smile

Week 2 complete and halfway through. I really feel like I'm making progress. In my class on Friday, we did Extended Triangle pose which is one I've practiced a few times this week. I must have done it OK because the teacher said to the others "Do it like Julia's doing". ☺️

Namaste. 🙏 🧘‍♀️

Week 3 complete ✔️

I do believe I'm feeling less stiff - especially in the mornings when I first get up.

So I'm going to definitely keep it up after the challenge has ended.

And to anyone out there who also is feeling less supple than they were, I highly recommend the app that I'm using.

Challenge complete! I've really enjoyed doing this challenge and have raised £150 for MacMillan. I've really felt the benefit. I'm not as stiff in the mornings and am building strength. I can now hold a plank for over a minute. So I'm going to continue doing my 15 minutes a day.

Namaste! 🧘‍♀️ 🙏
