I can crouch!

I've been struggling with my knees for ages now. Haven't been able to crouch down for years. Second yoga class two nights ago and for the position we were doing I had to crouch. It really hurt but I made myself. Couldn't do the position as it was very hard but two days later I can crouch down and hold it without crying! I can't believe it. I nearly left my first class early as well but I'm sticking with this. Sorry had to share as I've been really worried about my legs and knees especially

Good for you!

Great that you’re feeling a progression with your practice OP, what a great feeling!

Whatever level you’re at, nothing should be forced or hurt and you definitely shouldn’t be crying! Yoga is far more about moving with your breath than about forcing yourself into shapes. A good teacher won’t encourage you to force it. The crouch (Melasana, the yogi squat?) is more about opening your hips than your knees and you’d get the same effect in a wide knees child pose, without the knee strain. Much more relaxing! Enjoy your practice!

Thank you! It was called fallen angel into something. Sorry I'm not familiar with all the names yet. You could start with the chair pose. The teacher was amazing and said not to force anything. It was more that I felt embarrassed to not even be able to crouch!
