Benefits of daily yoga

I thought I'd start a thread about the above...anyone like to join in? I do an hour every day - I love it - and have done so for the past year.

Since starting to be more disciplined about it, I've noticed:

  • I "get over" minor emotional upsets more quickly / don't hold onto things that cause emotional pain for as long as I used to;
  • I have been able to cut contact with a couple of people I consider toxic - I don't miss them and barely think about them any more;
  • my waist is really toned Smile - am 50 and was starting to become a bit apple-shaped but now much more defined around the middle;
  • I generally sleep better;
  • I am perhaps a bit more patient with my DC;
  • I think that the perimenopause stuff - hot flushes etc - are not as bad as a few months ago - but that could be my imagination...
  • my skin is better. I'm looking younger - according to friends...

Honestly, I love yoga. I would go so far as to say I am addicted to it!

Anyone else?

Do you go to a class or do it at home? If it's at home please can I ask what you follow? I've only ever done sporadic classes and although I find it hard I do enjoy it and would like to try and do more, I just can't commit to a class right now

Do you watch a particular YouTube or follow a course?

I do 10 mins a day but would like to do more for strength

Hello - thanks to previous posts on MN, I use the Five Parks Yoga website. I started with Adriene but found her too chatty and irritating...The FPY website is huge with lots of videos categorised according to time. I always choose 60 minutes +.

It's free - a no-brainer Smile!

Addicted to hot yoga, but most importantly, the brilliant routine and teachers at my studio. I love seeing the same faces there, particularly since lockdown. I love that there is a great mix of gentle and tougher classes.
My posture has improved and my back and core are stronger
My skin is glowing
I feel so much stronger and have the strength to tackle the tougher classes
Feel rather euphoric after and a sense of accomplishment as I see my body changing and getting stronger
Sleep better
More energy
Calmer emotionally
The heat makes is more challenging but I feel like I’m getting a cardio workout too.

I used to do yoga daily for about 7 years but it wasn't enough. I've now added cardio and weights to burn fat. My arm balances and headstand are more stable. For me it's about balance. I do yoga 3 times a week.

I know this is a bit of an old thread now but just wanted to say that I understand the addiction part! I felt like that when I did it at the gym but with covid I don't really feel safe going back to yoga in a studio with 20 other people. I try to do some at home but find it really hard to push myself without the motivation of others around me.
